🏆 BEST USER VALUE HACK, yes, you heard it right! 🎉 Thrilled to share that our hack project has been recognised as the best user value hack in Microsoft E+D Divisional FHL Hackathon 2024! But was this always the case that I became good at cracking hackathons? 🤔 The simple answer is NO!! I still remember the day when I participated in my first hackathon during college days, there were only 4 participants and 3 prizes yet I decided to withdraw my registration after hearing the problem statement. This was the time when I was in my 2nd year of college with some knowledge of Web development. But that was the same day I decided to change things going forward. After that day, I participated in 7 international hackathons and won 5 out of them and some of them even had lacks of participants. There were a few things which got changed, instead of thinking about winning I decided to solve the problem statement in the best possible way and here we are now maintaining a streak of 2 consecutive wins in Microsoft last hackathon and the current one. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of my team(Loopasmita, Soumadeep, Shaleen, Prateek, Sushant Sharma ). 🌟 Together, we combined our diverse skills and perspectives to develop a solution that truly resonates with users and addresses their needs effectively. Participating in hackathons offers numerous advantages: 💡 Skill Enhancement: Hackathons provide a platform to hone technical skills and learn new technologies through hands-on experience. 👥 Teamwork: Collaborating with team members from diverse backgrounds fosters teamwork and communication skills. 🧠 Problem-Solving: Hackathons challenge participants to think critically and creatively to solve real-world problems under tight deadlines. 🤝 Networking: Events like this foster connections, and you get to hear new and interesting perspectives. What's your hackathon story? Share in the comments below! And stay tuned for my next post, where I'll share insights on cracking hackathons! 💡 A heartfelt thank you to the Microsoft community for this incredible recognition. 🙏 💻🌈 #BestUserValue #Innovation #ImpactfulSolutions #MicrosoftHackathon #Teamwork #StayInspired #HackathonJourney #ProblemSolving #TechSkills #Gratitude #Microsoft

𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲: 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 People often talk about a growth mindset as if it's a switch that can be easily turned on. "You just need to have a Growth Mindset" However, a "fixed mindset"—is deeply ingrained in us from an early age due to factors like the education system, the way we were raised, our culture, and our environment. These influences shape our beliefs, which we then love to reinforce with stories of our failures and moments of feeling foolish. Achieving a growth mindset isn't about flipping a switch; it's about systematically replacing those old, limiting beliefs and stories with new, empowering ones. Replace the "I can't" with the "Wow, I can". This is precisely what the Microsoft Garage and the Hackathon are designed to do. By creating a safe and supportive environment where people can experiment and learn new skills, we help them to replace outdated beliefs with new stories that demonstrate their ability to grow and succeed. Stories are like habits. You can't change someone's story - but you can replace it with a better one. In essence, we're creating an environment that embraces and encourages the razzle dazzle and the dream weave, where innovation is celebrated, and dreams are nurtured into reality. #MicrosoftGarage #Vancouver #Microsoft #TheBear #Innovation #Hackathon

Never participate in a hackathon if you're not confident about your idea!! The competition is always growing and winning is tough these days, why? Students too compete these days and I won't say it's unfair, but it's difficult for professionals to take time out - students have infinite time JK. Students have an edge over professionals in time and resources - usually, they compete in a team of four. I always participate alone and I feel like I am handicapped in this aspect. On the other hand, I do have a lot of experience building things so I can build things faster and effectively - both have their pros and cons. It's gonna become harder and harder for new people to win a hackathon - unless you've like a mindblowing idea. I felt the same when I started participating in these hackathons way back in college. I was like, How will I be able to compete with professionals with 5+ years of experience? But since I'm now on the other side of the field, new challenges emerge.. You can participate in a hackathon and start gaining experience which will help in the future when you compete hard. With all that said, winning a hackathon might seem easy but it's a ton of hard work and pushing oneself harder to do more. Picture: Microsoft AI Tour 2024 - keynote by CEO of Microsoft. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to participate in #HackWarsaw, the fourth stop on the Global Hackathon Series journey, at the #GoogleforStartups facilities. The opportunity came unexpectedly, just a day before the event. I had never participated in such an event and didn't even have a team to compete with, but I dared to do it because I saw the value in learning just by experiencing it. Here are my learnings: - Daring to speak and work with people you don't know is always a challenge, but you can be surprised by what you can create by interacting with people from completely different areas of expertise. - In these types of events, it's better to spend a good portion of the time brainstorming, truly thinking outside the box, and experimenting, rather than trying to develop something just to "deliver" a product. - Simple but brilliant ideas are what people are looking for. If you can explain your idea to a 5-year-old in 5 minutes, and they understand what you want to do, you're on the right track. - What is the problem you want to solve? Who is your target audience? Do people really care about solving this problem? - Data, my friends, the power is in the data. The meaning of "winning" in a competition can vary greatly depending on one's perspective. For me, just experiencing the event, meeting new people, and stepping out of my comfort zone to create something innovative in just 24 hours was the best prize I could have, and I am deeply grateful for it.

🌟 Hacktoberfest 2024 – Completed! 🌟 Today, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve officially completed #Hacktoberfest 2024! My Holopin profile : https://lnkd.in/dNTpYcSG 🎉 After submitting 4+ quality pull/merge requests and passing the final quality control review, I’ve unlocked the ultimate level of my evolving Holopin badge! 🛠️👨💻 Participating in Hacktoberfest has been a true journey—a journey of learning, growing, and giving back to the incredible open-source community. 🌍💻 But let's be real for a moment. Open-source contributions are never just about the code. It’s about the late-night debugging sessions, figuring out how a project works under the hood, and sometimes feeling like you’ll never find that elusive bug. 🐛✨ It’s those "aha!" moments when everything finally clicks, and the joy of seeing your contribution merge into a project that thousands (maybe millions!) will use. 🚀 For me, this was a chance to learn, collaborate, and make an impact—no matter how small. Open-source has given me the opportunity to grow as a developer, understand different codebases, and meet people from all around the world who are just as passionate about tech as I am. 🤝💬 To anyone who’s on the fence about diving into open-source: Do it! It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or an expert, everyone has something valuable to contribute. 🎨🧩 Hacktoberfest taught me that collaboration, contribution, and community are what truly drive innovation in the tech world. A huge shoutout to Hacktoberfest for organizing this event , Holopin for the amazing badges and to all the maintainers out there for being so patient and welcoming. 🙌 Your work matters. 🌱 Here’s to many more contributions, challenges, and growth ahead! 🔥💪 #opensource #codingjourney #community #learning #growth #holopin #hacktoberfest2024 #holopin Stanford University School of Engineering Google Microsoft #microsoft #100daysofcode #mlsa #learn #google #googleopen
