In recent decades, there has been a trend in architecture of returning to traditional architecture, while adapting it to contemporary building materials, modern lifestyles, and contemporary design styles. The result is buildings with a local appearance, adapted to their environment in terms of construction style, and influenced by the local construction method in terms of the use of building materials and traditional building principles. But they have all the modern equipment and systems, such as electricity, mill, sewage, communication, that exist in the 21st century. Most of these buildings also have the intention of green thinking and optimal utilization of energy and recycling. They are a new interpretation of the concept of 'traditional construction' www.efratmeiri.co.il #efrat_meiri #israeli_archtecture #newarchitecture #new_house #green_architecture #betterliving #betterhomes

How do you imagine the cities of the future?💡 Cities of the future will be socially connected hubs, supporting classy and timeless architecture and sustainability. Passive systems such as Lumon's balcony glazing enhance self-sufficiency of buildings and cityscapes. The awarded Ørsted Gardens is a perfect example of this. Once called the ugliest building in Denmark, the building now boasts modern design and functionality. "No one has come up with such a completely correct proposal for a renovation that manages both the climatic, acoustic and thermal aspects, but at the same time also wraps it in a form that supports the social cohesion of the building," notes Christopher Carlsen, Architect at Tegnestuen LOKAL about the project. The loss of courtyard space in contemporary homes is a highly debated topic in today's discourse on Iranian architecture. This issue, particularly for architects who think beyond market trends, holds double importance. The 17th edition of the Mirmiran Architecture Award with the theme "Reviving Courtyards" provided an opportunity to propose realistic architectural solutions that go beyond market demands and the "heritage" ideas of the Iranian architecture academy, offering a way to re-create this marginalized space. This program is not a set of guidelines or a historical replacement plan; it encourages architects to step back from established ideas and reconsider current assumptions. In this historical-critical program, we have tried to explore courtyard-related ideas in the "architectural production discourses" and the "everyday household life" stream, seeking a way to revive courtyards in contemporary conventional homes that were left behind by official discourses decades ago. We hope that this alternative history can create a gap in the current understanding and image of the architectural and construction society regarding the transformation and redirection of homes in Iran and facilitate the stream of everyday household life beyond current binary ideas (traditional-modern / interior-exterior).
