According to the regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia, in case of lost or damaged luggage, airlines are required to compensate passengers with 6,568 Saudi Riyals (approximately equal to US1,773).For delayed luggage,passengers can receive 740 Saudi Riyals(about US200) on the first day, followed by 300 Saudi Riyals (approximately equal to US$81) per day thereafter, with a maximum total of 6,568 Saudi Riyals. If the luggage fails to arrive within 21 days after the estimated arrival date, passengers have the right to request that it be treated as lost. These regulations came into effect on November 20, 2023. In case of luggage delay or loss, passengers should immediately contact the airline to register their information and obtain a luggage delay certificate. If dissatisfied with the compensation plan, passengers can file a complaint through the complaint channel on the GACA official website or call to obtain a complaint code, and track the progress of the complaint at any time. The airline will contact passengers and propose a compensation amount. In many jurisdictions, priority is placed on the preservation of competition to benefit consumers as well as encourage innovation by setting clear guidelines for what would be considered dominant position and instances where an undertaken might abuse such dominance. While market dominance is not prohibited, dominant businesses have a unique obligation to refrain from abusing their strong market position by stifling competition.  

All that is needed, is to ensure that all ticket fare classes are available to #Nigerians instead of the current situation, in which the highest quotable fares across-the-board are cynically effected, due to the lackadaisical attitude of #BASA negotiators, in #Nigeria due to connivance, sheer ignorance, ineptitude or all of the above. 🚨 New ECJ Card! 🚨 In the judgment of the case C-76/23, the Court of Justice of the European Union clarified important aspects regarding air passenger rights in the event of flight cancellations. According to interpretations of Articles 7(3), read in conjunction with 8(1)(a) and in light of recital 20 of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, it said that when a passenger chooses to receive the ticket cost reimbursement through a travel voucher via an online form on the airline’s website, it is considered that he/she has given his/her “signed agreement.” This decision highlights the necessity for airlines to ensure a transparent and well-informed process, offering passengers a real and informed choice between a travel voucher or a cash refund. ✈️ #PassengerRights #Airlines #CJEU #ECRegulation261 #AviationLaw #PionAirLaw
