And it lets your customers know you care about the environment. 🛒 I was at Groceryshop last week, along with a few thousand other folks. Since Advantage Group International works with retailers and suppliers to strengthen engagement, it's one of several priority conferences for us. It was a strong event with lots of great sessions and conversations. 📺 However ... one gaffe from the stage caught just about everyone's ear: A retail CEO was speaking about their retail media program. While noting that 'of course, suppliers want to talk about ROI and incrementality,' and treating that like a distraction, the CEO went on to affirm that 'we're focused on creating a profitable $XB business.' (Paraphrased, but you get the gist.) 📉 In just 10 seconds, the CEO likely eroded years of messaging about partnership and continual improvement that their retail media team has been espousing, and sent the message to suppliers that 'it's all about us.' 🗺️ Maybe they lost track of the room they were in. It wasn't an earnings call or a leadership team meeting, it was an industry event with a room full of suppliers, many of whom have been advocating within their organizations to enable greater investment in retail media. 📊 When I had a moment, I checked our Advantage Report Voice of the Supplier survey results to see how their retail media program is faring vs. their benchmark set. Answer: Not well. 💸 My conclusion: Make the program stronger and the money will follow. Focus on your financial goals and you won't get there. #BetterTogether #Collaboration
