🇫🇷 Yesterday, the second round of the snap General Elections took place in France. 🔎 Despite a significant growth, the far-right party RN only arrived third, with the left-wing coalition coming up first, slightly ahead of the presidential majority. Therefore, the perspective of a RN government unexpectedly fades away. 💡 Given this fragmented Parliament, next days and weeks will be decisive, with high uncertainty regarding possible coalitions and what the government could look like, especially with the upcoming Olympic Games. 🗨 Feel tree to get in touch with Erwann Le Page, Managing Partner France, if you would like to know more ! France is bracing for political turbulence following the announcement of snap elections at the end of this month, driven by the government's poor performance in the EU elections on 9 June. Regardless of the outcome, the nation faces a period of difficult politics. President Macron will most likely be ideologically at odds with the incoming Prime Minister. There are various possible outcomes. We could see a coalition of left-wing parties form a minority government or even perhaps a far-right party gaining a majority, each scenario creating challenges for domestic stability and EU relations. This comes just weeks before the Olympic Games, amplifying potential impacts on investor sentiment and perceptions of France. George Dyson, a Senior Analyst based in our Paris office, gives his thoughts below. You can read his full analysis here: https://ow.ly/hZEv50SosPV How do you think these political changes will affect France's position in the EU? Share your insights in the comments below.
