The conversation about carbon offsets usually gravitates around the amount of carbon captured from the atmosphere, and that’s it. However, when talking about high-quality carbon projects, carbon removal is just the beginning. In the second episode of the Green Earth Podcast, we talk to Haron Wachira, HSC, the Project Director of the Hongera Reforestation and Cookstove projects. We explore together the positive impact these projects have on their environment, beyond removing or avoiding carbon emissions. We talk about community development, raising living standards, improving air quality, and much more. Click the link below to listen!

🌱 🌎 🌱I recently listened to a My Smart Community podcast episode featuring Katie Patrick, who explores sustainability through technology lenses, discussing feedback loops, individual actions, and systemic change. These are my takeaways from the episode: - Showing environmental data and feedback loops in creative ways can motivate people to take climate action. - Feedback loops drive behaviour, so gathering environmental data at different scales (house, block, neighbourhood, city) is key to promoting sustainability. - While individual actions matter, understanding how they fit into the system and knowing who (individuals, communities, governments) can create a significant impact is crucial. - Action is stimulated by conversations and observation of others. - Social bonds and community connections are key motivators for promoting sustainable behaviour. - Conversations between neighbours are a powerful tool for driving change and community action. - Designing systems and tools that facilitate conversations between neighbourhoods can help catalyse collective action. - Moving from expert discussions to action requires thinking like a behaviour designer to recruit and empower local community members. SEASON 1 COMPLETE!! Thank you to all our listeners - we are so grateful for each and every one of you. Now that we've wrapped up, there are two things we would really appreciate: 1. Do you know of any opportunities to get the podcast in front of more ears? Whether in newsletters, blogs, on social media or giving talks to organisations - we'd appreciate ideas and help! 2. We would LOVE to know what you thought about the podcast! Please let us know with a review on Apple Podcasts, or in the comments here, or with a DM. What did we do well? What could we improve on? And what topics would you like to see covered, should we do a Season 2? 👀 This isn't the end, expect more from us soon... #Climatechange #podcast #environment
If you had to make a ten-step plan to save Earth, what would be on it? Last year, Bella Lack and I began assembling a blueprint to rescue our generation’s future. We met with leading changemakers, looking at incredible transformations already happening around the world. We heard how Costa Rica doubled the size of its forests in 30 years. 🌴 How Los Angeles is steaming ahead with decarbonisation and building climate resilience. 🌆 Why Norway, for a period of time, had 20 times the global average electric car sales. ⚡ And so much more! But we know these solutions aren’t being implemented fast enough, and we wanted to find out why. Can they be scaled up? What are the barriers to progress? And, crucially, how can we all see ourselves as catalysts of this systemic transformation, rather than isolated carbon footprints? We’re very proud of what we’ve managed to put together, and excited to share the full series with you! Hey LinkedIn fam! 🌟 I'm thrilled to announce the latest episode of our podcast, "We the Children," where we dive deep into the world of climate change with special guest Philippe Cousteau. 🌊 In this episode, we explored some incredible insights and stories that I can't wait to share with you. Here are three key takeaways that really stood out to me: 1. The Power of Nature to Renew Itself: Philippe Cousteau shared a fascinating story about the Marshall Islands, where nature was able to bounce back spectacularly after being devastated by nuclear bomb tests. This serves as a powerful reminder of nature's ability to renew itself when given the space to do so. 2. Youth-Led Innovation: EarthEcho's Our Echo Challenge is empowering young people to investigate biodiversity issues in their communities and come up with innovative solutions. It's inspiring to see young minds leading the way in environmental conservation and restoration. 3. Effective Communication is Key: Philippe emphasized the importance of effective communication in the climate conversation. By telling compelling stories and making the impacts of climate change relatable and accessible, we can engage a diverse audience and drive positive change. I encourage you to listen to the full episode to gain more insights and inspiration from Philippe Cousteau's incredible work and vision for a sustainable future. Let's continue to amplify the voices of young environmental advocates and work together towards a healthier planet for future generations. 🌍💚 You can listen to the episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Episode 10 is here... 🎙️ Hey, LinkedIn fam! Zach here, your host of the "We the Children" podcast. I am thrilled to announce our latest episode, which features an incredible guest: Matt Scott, the Director of Storytelling and Engagement at the global nonprofit Climate Solutions Resource Project Drawdown. In this episode, Matt shared some powerful insights and stories that I believe are crucial takeaways for all of us. Here are three key points to ponder: 1. Passing the Mic for Inclusive Narratives: Matt emphasized the importance of passing the mic to voices often unheard in the climate conversation. We can create a more inclusive and effective movement by amplifying underrepresented voices and ensuring everyone feels they have a role to play in addressing climate change. 2. Discovering Your Superpower: Matt highlighted the concept of the Climate Action Venn Diagram, which encourages individuals to explore what brings them joy, what they are good at, and what work needs to be done. By finding our unique superpowers and leveraging them to make a difference, we can all play a role in shaping a better future for our planet. 3. Global Solutions Diary: Matt introduced the Global Solutions Diary, a community-generated library of climate change solution stories. This initiative allows people worldwide to share their stories and perspectives on climate action, showcasing the diversity of voices and experiences in the fight against climate change. Lastly, we also share an inspiring voice message from Lorna at Mothers Rise Up, an inspiring organization based in London that focuses on environmental activism, especially addressing climate change. This group comprises mothers who are deeply concerned about the planet's future for their children and future generations. I encourage you all to listen to the full episode to explore these insights further and hear more inspiring stories from Matt and other climate heroes. Together, we can make a difference and create a more sustainable future for generations to come. Tune in to the "We the Children" podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts to join the conversation and be part of the movement for positive change. Let's continue to amplify diverse voices, discover our superpowers, and work towards a greener, more inclusive world. 🌍💚 Please feel free to drop us a voicemail at our website - https://lnkd.in/gSyzaUc8 https://lnkd.in/gdkX8WsV #ClimateAction #InclusiveNarratives #Superpowers #GlobalSolutions #WeTheChildren #PodcastEpisode #Sustainability #ClimateChangeAwareness #ClimateActionVennDiagram
