Is Spanish the key to your global success? Exploring its impact on international communication! In today's globalized world, communication between countries and cultures is essential for business and other endeavors. While other languages like English and Mandarin are often more widely spoken, Spanish is also becoming increasingly important in international communication. Spanish is increasingly important for business as the second most spoken language in the world and the official language of 21 countries. One of the reasons for the increased importance of Spanish in international communication is the large and growing number of Spanish speakers in the United States. Some 40 million people in the US speak Spanish as their first or second language, which is projected to rise considerably in the coming years. Moreover, Spanish is also an official language in several African, Asian, and Pacific countries, making it a valuable tool in doing business in these areas. As more and more countries seek to do business with Spanish-speaking countries, speaking and understanding the language is proving to be an essential asset for business professionals seeking to expand their global horizons. Learning Spanish can be a crucial advantage in several different industries. For example, professionals in the tourism industry can benefit significantly from being able to speak Spanish, as the language is widely spoken in popular tourist destinations like Mexico, the Caribbean, and Spain. Similarly, Spanish can be a valuable asset for those in the IT industry, as it is the third most commonly used language online. Therefore, business professionals who can communicate effectively in Spanish can significantly increase their presence on the web and, consequently, their potential for success in the competitive online business world. Finally, Spanish can provide a valuable edge for those seeking entry-level positions in various industries. Many organizations require new employees to be proficient in two or more languages before considering them for employment, so speaking Spanish can make job seekers more attractive to potential employers. Advanced English for Brazilians. 🇬🇧🇧🇷 Debates. Article Analysis. Presentations. ♤Business, Investment, Politics, Sports♤
My Brazilian friends, the ability to speak Spanish is a skill, not an obligation, and should be treated as such! When working with Brazilians I noticed that although all are quick to emphasize their English as a skill on their CV, many fail to highlight the fact that Spanish is also an acquired skill, and not a naturally occurring talent. Of course I am talking about real Spanish students, Brazilian people who have learnt and studied the language, not speakers of "Portenhol" (no offense to you, you´re all fun to talk to at barbecues, but that´s not Spanish...) But the point is that many of the foreign directors from the US and Europe fail to recognize and/or value the fact that you speak Spanish, either through the ignorance of thinking that Spanish is the official language of Brazil, or by assuming that Spanish and Portuguese are "basically the same" and thereby really underappreciating the time, dedication and money invested in classes and books that you put into ACQUIRING this skill in order to more efficiently fulfill your work obligations within the LATAM market. I can´t imagine working at a company based in England, receiving an E-mail from my boss in German and him/her justifying it by saying "ah, it´s basically the same as English, right? Of course, many of the jobs in the LATAM market will have Spanish as a requirement, but Brazil is also the largest country in South America and depending on the sector you work in, will probably have the largest market share, and I don´t see many foreigners learning Portuguese. Not even the "gringo" bosses who have been in Brazil for 10+ years. In short, I don´t think it´s too much to ask that you receive a little recognition and appreciation for having learnt a whole new language, just as you would expect to receive for having learnt English. What do you think? - Joseph. #english #ingles #spanish #latam
