With intense competition, long seasons and multiple stages, some teams have given consistent and resilient performances ever since the inception of organized club football in Europe. Team Spoogle dug deep into their databases to bring out some interesting insights on how the top European football clubs have fared in the 75 odd years. This assignment involved leveraging open data sources to tell a compelling story through key match statistics like Goals, Expected Goals (xG), Shots, and Defensive Metrics. The surprising 0-0 draw showcased: 🇫🇷 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲'𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 (xG: 2.68) despite their dominance. 🇮🇱 𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹'𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, highlighted by 28 clearances and eight saves by goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.
