The International Air Transport Association ( #IATA ) has unveiled its 2023 annual safety report, revealing significant advancements in global #aviation #safety. Notably, the year marked “best-ever” results for various parameters. In 2023, there were no hull losses or fatal #accidents involving passenger jet aircraft. However, a single fatal accident occurred with a turboprop aircraft, resulting in 72 fatalities. The total number of aircraft movements, including jets and turboprops, reached 37 million in 2023, reflecting a 17% increase from the previous year.

New FAA Efficiency Rules Confirm End For Boeing 767F Production With the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) adopting its proposed fuel efficiency rules for certain subsonic jet aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of more than 5,700 kilograms (12,566 pounds), this could spell the end for the production of the Boeing 767F freighter. I am inclined to consider that the incident may have occurred during a line training exercise, involving both pilots in the operation of the aircraft. Echoing the recommendations of an experienced professional, a go-around maneuver should have been promptly executed or declared at the moment the aircraft ballooned. A comprehensive analysis of the Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) data, with an overlay of the two, is imperative. Such a review promises to yield valuable insights, serving as a critical learning opportunity not only for the flight crew and the airline but also for the broader aviation industry.

Recently, an Airbus #A3501000 operated by Cathay Pacific suffered an in-flight fire on the number 2 engine, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency return. Preliminary investigations conducted by the Hong Kong Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) revealed that the main cause of the accident was a damaged fuel hose in the second engine of the #A350, according to the EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency the failure could have been caused during an engine cleaning process, during one of the scheduled checks.
