What’s caught your eye? Looking forward to the start of Europe DIA 2024! Excited to learn; connect, participate, and share. Three hefty topics on the RWD agenda this time with two focused on regulatory decision making: 1) DARWIN EU and how RWE is transforming regulatory decisions making and 2) International Collaboration and convergence on guidance to enable RWE for regulatory decision making; and 3) one real life challenge on the use of registries (which is a Collaborative Hub session). This is a new type of session at the DIA Europe 2024 meeting. This will be a hands-on session where all participants will engage in discussion at roundtables on key questions pertinent to the use of registries), so do sign up if you want to be part of this, and share your wisdom with us. I am of course excited by this new format as I am speaking at this session (#SO104) so do sign up if you are interested in this topic. I also plan to attend the ICH town halls, and two other sessions caught my eye: ACT EU and the future of clinical trials, and how to de-risk early development. So whats caught your eye? Would be great to hear… See you around…. # Europe DIA 2024

Last week, our Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Robert Karanja, PhD, had the opportunity to speak a the 10th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development. The theme of the event was the effective delivery of innovative science and technology solutions to reinforce the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063. Dr. Karanja spoke about the issue that the health and life sciences in Africa are a neglected market. Because Africa's purchasing power is perceived to be low, international pharmaceutical companies don't see it as a viable paying market. What that means is that we need to solve our own problems, which is why Villgro Africa exists: to invest in African healthcare solutions designed for the African context. The global #Cannabis industries, encompassing all end-uses including #Marijuana and #Hemp, are diverse, and while there is a lot of activity in the United States... We must not forget about the numerous legacy and burgeoning marketplaces that exist around the world. One market in particular comes to mind because of its historical significance, indigenous connection, cultural impact, and regulatory conflict with the Cannabis sativa L. plant - South Africa. If you've been following me, then you know that I am a volunteer member of ASTM International Technical Committee D37 on Cannabis and that in January 2025 we'll be hosting our committee week in Cape Town, South Africa. Why South Africa? Because, the D37 recognizes that we are a diverse industry represented by numerous stakeholder groups around the world, many of which cannot make the trip to North America, either due to financial constraints or travel restrictions. Therefore, to make good on our commitment and mandate to DEI initiatives, and provide an opportunity to hear from more diverse representatives of the global industries, the D37 is venturing outside of North America - since not everyone can come to us, we are going to them. And, do we have something planned? You bet! For the past 24 months, the planning team with its partners Fields of Green for ALL, and others, have been putting together a wonderful and inclusive program. Event Structure: 5 days, 2-day global conference followed by 3 days of formal committee meetings Dates of Event: Jan 27th-31st, 2025 Global Conference: Jan 27th & 28th, 2025 D37 Committee Meetings: Jan 29th-31st, 2025 Location: Cape Town, South Africa Venue: Century City Convention Center For more information about the event, check out the nifty new flyer attached. We are accepting abstracts for speakers and looking for sponsors to help us ensure our event is a success. This is gonna be an amazing opportunity to support the global cannabis industries and the community in South Africa. I hope to see you there. Live long and process. 🖖
