As recruiters, it's crucial to stay up-to-date with the current job market and how it's affecting the talent pool. Recently, a CNBC article caught my attention regarding the college hiring outlook. The article highlights that while the overall outlook is positive, some employers are cutting back on new college graduate hires, and salaries may fall short of expectations. However, even as the job market cools for soon-to-be grads, job seekers are becoming more selective in their searches. According to one report, many young adults only want jobs with at least some remote flexibility. As a new graduate, it's essential to keep these points in mind. Are you willing to take an onsite position to get your career started? Are you willing to accept a lower salary to set yourself up for long-term success? Unfortunately, my experience has been that most new graduates aren't willing to make these sacrifices and would instead rather remain unemployed until they land their "dream job." 'According to a recent survey conducted by Robert Half, demand for entry-level professionals is strongest among administrative and customer support roles, followed by the legal, marketing, human resources, technology and finance sectors. Mike Shekhtman says employers are demonstrating a level of interest in hiring new grads that are typical of a more balanced economy, suggesting that the spike in youth unemployment may be short lived. Employers finally answered their own wake-up call! It was only a matter of time for employers to find ways to fill certain jobs that do not (ok never) require a 4-year degree. It’s long overdue! Drumroll please… Some of those jobs can lead to 6 figure compensation! In 2023, 55% of companies removed degree requirements, particularly for entry-level and mid-level roles. Employers said they dropped these requirements to create a more diverse workforce, increase the number of applicants for open positions, and because there are other ways to gain skills. #onthejoblearning #skillsbasedhiring
