My daughter recently asked me about my first job outside of the home, and it brought back a flood of memories—and a lot of laughter! At 15, I worked at a radio station from 4-7 PM as a radio song surveyor. Armed with a cassette tape player connected to the phone, I’d call people, play them songs, and ask if they liked the track and if they would listen to it on the radio. I didn’t get paid in cash, but I did receive American Top 40 records from the week prior as compensation—remember Casey Kasem? After too many dinner-time hang-ups, I decided it was time to move on to a different job. 😂 Things have certainly changed since then, but funny enough, talking to people on the phone is still part of my job today!
