𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗? Protecting your health should be your number one priority when using OP sheep dip. You can do this by wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE). Buy the right kit, and if cared for correctly, it can be reused. Here’s your kit-check list: • non-synthetic gloves, which are heavy-duty, gauntlet-style PVC or nitrile, at least 0.5mm thick and 300mm in length, ideally unflocked • full-length wellies • waterproof (PVC or nitrile) trousers or leggings • waterproof coat (that goes fully over your bottom) • a bib-apron • a face shield when handling the concentrate Remember OP dip remains active on the sheep for longer-lasting protection from scab, so when handling sheep up to 3 months post dipping, ensure you are wearing the correct PPE on both dry and wet days. Terry shares 3 important tips on arc-rated gloves. Are the gloves you're using arc-rated according to ASTM Standards? If you're not certain - ask!! Send Terry Becker, P.Eng., CESCP, IEEE Senior Member a message!
TAKE CONTROL of ARC FLASH! Electrical Safety Specialist, Management Consultant - helping employers take control of electrical hazard management with validated residual risk at TW Becker Electrical Safety Consulting Inc.
TAKE CONTROL of ARC FLASH Knowledge is Power! Not all arc-rated gloves are created equal. Here are a few things you need to know: ONE: Just because the glove packaging says "ARC" on the label - it does NOT necessarily mean that it is arc-rated according to ASTM Standards. Ensure you check the specifically arc-rated glove for an ATPV value and confirm with the manufacturer if required that test results can be provided based on ASTM F2675 testing. TWO: Specifically arc-rated gloves provide a significant improvement in terms of dexterity and comfort when used. Unlike the old "oven mitt style," which were bulky, oversized and cumbersome, the new specifically arc-rated gloves are made with leather, cloth, and rubber and can also provide enhanced mechanical protection for your hands. This will also reduce the likelihood of electricians and other task qualified workers making mistakes related to the glove interfering with their ability to execute a work task. THREE: Specifically arc-rated gloves provide a confirmed ATPV for the hands. They are also available as protectors for rubber insulating gloves when approved to ASTM F696 and ASTM F3258 - this is why the term "leather" in front of protector was deleted from CSA Z462 2024 Edition!! We cover PPE in more detail in my CSA Z462 2024 online course. (link in comments)

⚗️ What single-use gloves should you use for handling Ethanol 99.8%? 🚨 Ethanol 99.8% (CAS 64-17-5) is highly concentrated and commonly used in laboratories, manufacturing, and various industrial processes. However, its use does come with certain hazards. Prolonged or repeated skin contact can lead to dryness and irritation, potentially resulting in dermatitis. When selecting single-use gloves for handling Ethanol 99.8%, consider the following: ✅ Material: Nitrile gloves are generally recommended due to their excellent chemical resistance and durability. ✅ Thickness: Thicker gloves offer better protection, but they may reduce dexterity. It’s important to strike a balance between protection and dexterity, especially for precision tasks. ✅ AQL (Acceptable Quality Level): Choose gloves with the lowest AQL (E.g. AQL 0.25) for minimal defects and enhanced overall protection. ✅ Length: For tasks with a risk of splashes, consider longer gloves (such as those with a 300mm cuff) to protect the forearms. By following these guidelines and choosing the appropriate PPE gloves, workers can safely handle Ethanol 99.8% while minimising health and safety risks. ➡️ Consult SHIELD Scientific’s online chemical resistance guide to select gloves that are best suited to your application based on their performance against the chemicals you handle. 👉 https://lnkd.in/exqZYnKB #SafetyatWork #SafetyFirst #HealthandSafety #PPE #Gloves #Chemicals #SHIELDScientific #Chemistry

The gloves are ON!! What bit of work kit that you regularly use do you think deserves to be in every household? 🛠 As the co-founder of Winchester GP, you might expect me to sensibly rattle out some paracetamol and a triangular bandage... but NO! I have something that is far more exciting to me! 😜 What I really want to nominate for anyone who shares my uber glam, Kardashian-esque lifestyle is .... .... a steady supply of single use NITRILE GLOVES. 🧤 #Rant ... standard rubber gloves are rubbish 🚮 😐 They flop around the sink surround looking messy 🤮 developing that weird indelible black mould and generally being damp and smelly 🤢 If you can bear to put them on you literally put clean hands in, get smelly wrinkly hands out. 😭 #Epicfail Contrast this with my trusty box of nitriles, sat in a dry box under the sink - there are very few household chores that I shy away from. 😇 🍛 Washing up and general cleaning obviously 👩🌾 Under gardening gloves - stops the soil which still gets through 🐶 And when Otto finds festering dead things to befriend (a regular and gross occurrence), some firm words, and a pair of nitriles and is dealt with very swiftly! The only downside I see is #environmental 🌏 (single use versus multi-use) but they are so thin (yet strong) I reckon the amount of material in a disposable glove is significantly less than the smelly marigolds. (experts in the field please advise) Plus they are being used in such massive volumes in the medical sector already - I can’t think that my own domestic use moves the dial on that front. (I don't love cleaning that much- just want to make it less painful when I do it!!) So here’s a whoop and some jazz hands 🤭 for Nitrile gloves! Some doctors kit that makes my every day just that little bit better! And my question to you- what do you use in your work on a regular basis that you think every household could benefit from??? (Objects or virtual suggestions all welcome- whatever you consider a top every day life hack!) #lifehack #toptip #justforfun #privategp
