Jane and Natalia, our BizDev and marketing gurus, have returned from the WN Conference in Abu Dhabi. Although it was February, it was hot—as you would expect from an international gamedev conference. As usual, here are the key takeaways from what was discussed: 💡 The MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region is developing rapidly and showing interest in investing in game development. Major oil companies are investing in new gaming projects. Therefore, startups looking for funding should consider targeting MENA investors instead of the usual European and American ones, which is not the easiest task these days. 💡 In 2023, Saudi-based Savvy Games acquired Scopely, a leading American gamedev company. This year, the market is expecting new deals of a similar scale. This could lead to new exciting projects and job opportunities in the UAE. 💡 Users in Arabic-speaking countries are spending more on games, especially shooters and strategy games. It's important to respond to this growing demand early on: consider the love of competition and think about creating attractive decorations, skins and other elements that can be bought or earned through in-game achievements. 💡 Key success factors in the MENA region are PvP (player versus player) and Arabic localization. Without these, it will be harder for the game to attract users and strengthen its position in the market. Thanks, WN Events!

That's a wrap on the 1 Billion Followers Summit | قمة المليار متابع in Dubai! Thank you to the entire team for making me feel so welcome (especially my friends at Alfan!) as one of the only Americans to speak at this year's event. Some takeaways: ⛭ Dubai is truly making a play to be the content creator epicenter of the world. And I think they have a good shot. They're investing in the creator economy on a government level, creating welcoming spaces and events for global creators, and they're centralized to reach creators from the US to SEA. 🇺🇸 The Middle East is looking at America to see where their creator economy is going in the same way America looks at China to see where shoppable video is going. You're seeing a lot of local start-ups making the Arabic version of US companies: creator funding, creator services, management, analytics platforms, brand platforms, etc. 🎥 The fandom here is real. I got to spend some time with Goub, a Palestinian living in London creating content in English with 19m followers on TikTok. He couldn't walk 10 feet without being stopped for a picture. I didn't recognize the talent here, but I recognized the fervor. Another reminder to think about how your content resonates globally. 🎙️ The mainstage was like a rock concert. They had Bassem Youssef and Khaby Lame, but more importantly, they focused on entertainment value. They'd have Mind2Mind do an incredible mind-reading act, then have a government official talk about investment in creators, then Tom Bilyeu drop inspirational wisdom, then a fireside chat with a superstar. And the hosts had comedy bits between. Incredibly well done! Other conventions take note. 🕛 The 12 hour time difference wrecked me. I don't know how other people do it. Look at my eyes in the below pic! That's what I look like in a half-dream state on stage at a convention, my friends! I highly recommend this convention, if for no other reason than opening your mind to the scale of creator economy beyond America's borders. There's a lot happening you're probably not seeing. #socialmedia #creatoreconomy #emea

Studying Strategic Marketing Communications at Conestoga College, Kitchener. Specialized in Food PR. Culinary adventurer
Hello, LinkedIn community! In my recent Strategic Marketing Course with Ishaan Bhardwaj, we looked at the exciting realm of branding tactics, including the intriguing concept of embedded marketing. One topic that provoked a discussion was the appearance of concealed marketing in movies. While watching the current Bollywood movie, "Dunki," I couldn't help but notice Qatar Airways' smart placement in critical scenes. This creative integration appeals significantly to the film's target audience—students, NRIs, and immigrants—keeping the airline's brand top of mind when purchasing flights. When done correctly, embedded marketing easily integrates companies into cultural narratives, creating a lasting impact. Well, these were my thoughts about embedded marketing. What do you guys think? #StrategicMarketing #BrandIntegration #EmbeddedMarketing #QatarAirways #Dunki #MarketingStrategy #LinkedInDiscussion

While everyone (looking at you Michael Thill) is off enjoying the sun and creativity at Cannes Lions, here I am, not jealous at all. Seriously, not one bit jealous. Not even a little. For those unfamiliar, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a premier event in the advertising and communications industry. It runs from June 17-21 this year and features over 150 hours of content with around 500 speakers from across the globe. Icons like Deepak Chopra, Jay Shetty, and representatives from top companies like Google and P&G are sharing insights and innovations that are shaping the industry. https://lnkd.in/gv7s3rQH Why do we flock to events like this? The draw is in both the recognition and the opportunity for professional growth. From a behavioral science perspective, humans have a deep-seated desire for validation and acknowledgment. Awards like the Cannes Lions provide a platform to be judged and, hopefully, celebrated for our creativity and hard work. But why do we want to be judged? The answer lies in the psychological satisfaction of recognition, which can enhance self-esteem and motivate continued excellence. Beyond personal satisfaction, there are significant business reasons for pursuing these accolades. Winning at Cannes can enhance a company’s reputation, attract new clients, and justify higher fees for services. In essence, these awards are a tangible marker of success and a powerful marketing tool. However, at Havas Edge we believe that the best award is the trust and loyalty of our clients. While it's great to be recognized on such a prestigious stage, our ultimate goal is to consistently deliver value and results for our clients, day in and day out. That, to us, is the most meaningful accolade of all. Still, would be nice to be there.
