🕳️Excavation is the act or process of digging, especially when something specific is being removed from the ground. Archaeologists use excavation to find artifacts and fossils. There are many types of excavation, but they all involve digging holes in the earth. 🕳️What are the three types of excavation? The Top 3 Types of Excavation Topsoil Excavation – Prior to most construction projects, the upper layer of soil is removed. ... Earth Excavation – This is the removal of soil beneath the topsoil and on top of rock. ... Rock Excavation – When it comes to removing rock beneath soil, using earthmoving equipment won't cut it. 🕳️What is excavation in safety? OSHA defines an excavation as any man-made cut, cavity, trench, or depression in the Earth's surface formed by earth removal. A trench is defined as a narrow excavation (in relation to its length) made below the surface of the ground. 🕳️What are the 4 Ps of excavation? Only proceed with your excavation work after planning, preparing, potholing (unless prohibited), and having protective measures in place. 🕳️What are the safety related to excavation? Unless the walls are solid rock, never enter a trench deeper than 1.2 metres (4 feet) if it is not properly sloped, shored, or protected by a trench box. The risk of a cave-in is not the only hazard in trenching. Injuries and deaths are also related to other major areas: falls into excavation or trench.

Weak or unstable soil can compromise the safety of a structure. Marshall GeoScience employs ground improvement techniques such as soil compaction, grouting, and the use of geosynthetics to enhance soil properties. These methods ensure that the ground can safely support your infrastructure. #marshallgeo #groundimprovement #soilstabilization #MarshallGeoScience #geotechnicalengineering #soilcompaction #grouting #geosynthetics #infrastructure #soilsafety #engineeringmethods #soilenhancement #groundstability #constructionengineering #soilengineering 💥Website: https://lnkd.in/g78-T65N

#Landslide as a #hazard is usually categorised under natural disasters but human construction activities can also trigger landslides, especially if they involve excavation, grading, altering the natural slope of the land, removing vegetation, changing drainage patterns, adding weight to slopes with structures. All these can increase the risk of instability and trigger landslides. In all #constructionprojects in areas prone to landslides, geophysical survays need to be performed and based on the outcome the risk of triggering landslide during construction and later during the use of land needs to be addressed in the #riskassessments. This video shows how a landslide can actually cascade to a #tsunami.
