Executive dysfunction is a term which describes difficulty with breaking down, planning and carrying out tasks. This can be something as commonplace as cleaning a room or taking a shower, and is an issue which neurodivergent people often struggle with. As Jess, an autistic member of our team, says: “Advice for neurodivergent people has always hammered home the importance of calendars and lists and so on, but they always seem to forget the first hurdle: getting started with the bloody thing in the first place.” Enter Goblin Tools. This online resource offers a suite of AI-powered tools designed to make day-to-day tasks easier for everyone, but might be especially useful to neurodivergent people. They include: - Formalizer - transforms your informal text to formal, or vice versa - Judge - analyses the tone of a written message - Professor - composes a quick ‘crash course’ on any topic you give it - Estimator - estimates the time a specific task will take - Compiler - organises your 'brain dump' into a list of coherent tasks - Chef - generates recipes from a list of your available ingredients - Magic ToDo - compiles several of the above tools into the ultimate to-do list Jess took the Magic ToDo list for a test run and was thoroughly impressed by the results. “With this, there was nothing to buy, download or set up, and the ad-free, almost spartan site meant there was nothing to distract or overwhelm me. The tools all interact with each other, so I could start by using the Compiler to untangle my thoughts, then transfer it to the Magic ToDo list to iron out the details. "Using speech-to-text meant I didn't even have to stop to type. I could just rattle out a list of jobs, press a few buttons, and suddenly my anxious brain fog had been transformed into a sleek, clear-cut to-do list with detailed breakdowns for each task. I could even rate the tasks on how difficult I would personally find them, and check them off once they were complete for that much-needed dopamine hit. "Being autistic makes 'adulting' a herculean task. I can whip up a dress from scratch and learn songs on the piano by ear, but having to clean my teeth twice a day often feels impossible. Now I’m a parent, I have to adult for two… and having a simple, reliable tool to help me plan my day can make a world of difference, not just to the state of my kitchen, but to my wellbeing and mental health. The Magic ToDo list really showcases how AI can be used to benefit disabled people in all areas of life.” Goblin Tools is free to use, and could save you a ton of time and energy when it comes to planning your day. This recent study explores AI-assisted tools designed to address learning challenges in students with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). The findings reveal that AI tools can significantly enhance social interaction and educational support. Children with NDDs, such as ADHD or ASD, often face additional mental health issues like anxiety or depression. Tailored treatments are crucial to addressing these overlapping conditions and improving their quality of life. While AI tools offer rapid data analysis and personalized recommendations, they also require trained staff and reliable internet, which can incur additional costs. I'm gonna get real for a sec here... I *honestly* thought I'd put matching socks on. 😅 It was only when I sat down on the toilet, 30 mins later, that I realised. (No - this photo wasn't taken on the loo... That's gross. 🤣) Let's just say I've had a LOT on my mind lately. Even more than the usual load on my ADHD brain. And, as a result, I've had a fair few mental struggles in recent weeks. But you probably wouldn't know by looking at me from the outside. You'd think I completely have my sh*t together. In reality - 🫣 I've found myself overwhelmed and paralysed when it came to making check-in calls with current and past AI students - for fear of rejection. (Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria is massive for ADHDers.) Even though I KNEW these calls would be valuable on so many levels. 🫣 I beat myself up for hours because I couldn't remember my Outlook email password so I could set up my new computer. Even though I KNEW I'd saved it 'somewhere' safe so this wouldn't happen again. 🫣 I got myself lost driving into the city for a social gathering. And was 30 minutes late. And my evening seemed to downward spiral from there. Even though I KNEW I should have allowed heaps of extra travel time to accommodate. ... And that's just a quick snapshot. I was diagnosed with ADHD 6 months ago - however I didn't *really* know what that meant. Lately, I've been listening to the audiobook 'The year I met my brain' by Matilda Boseley and it's all starting to make more sense. While my copywriting business is almost 10 years old, there were so many vital steps I missed because they were 'boring' and I wanted to jump right in. This time around, with my new business, I have some key people around me for accountability - to ensure I actually implement the best possible systems and processes for success. And that starts with my hubby (the new HumanEdge AI Training COO) helping me set up my new laptop so that - ✅ My Desktop isn't cluttered and only the key folders are visible. ✅ Chrome is set up properly so I don't feel the need to have 100 tabs opened at once... To avoid forgetting something. ✅ My emails have set folders, so I don't end up with over 4000 unread emails and wonder why it's taken forever to Send/Receive. What's the point of this post? Basically just to give you real insights into my life. And that you can take me down from that pedestal, because I don't have it all figured out. My fellow neurospicy peeps would get it! But now I gotta run, because time blindness is also an issue of mine. And I now need to get dressed and out the door in 10 mins! Eeekkk! 😂 #neurospicy #adhd #authenticity

Let's talk about confidence and self-worth for neurodivergent people. This is something many of us have struggled with. Confidence is about being comfortable in your skin, but if you're neurodivergent you've likely been told you've been doing things wrong your entire life. It gets to the point where you start to internalize that. Looking back, many of the things I was called out for in school were due to my AuDHD: 🟡 My head wasn't "in the clouds," I was processing a lot of information in my internal world. Autistic kids process 42% more information on average! 🟡 I wasn't "spacey" I was having trouble processing information in the format it was being given to me. 🟡 I wasn't "lazy" I was exhausted from absorbing so much all the time. 🟡I wasn't "clumsy" I was struggling with proprioception and interoception Half the time my "mistakes" were my different way of approaching a task. But when you get these messages repeatedly, you start to believe them and internalize them as character flaws. This is all too common for neurodivergents. So before you tell someone to "Be more confident," think again. A lack of confidence and self-worth is more complicated than that. It's not a switch you can turn on. It's a process of rewiring your brain, feeding yourself positive messaging, and understanding that the way you operate isn't "wrong," it's different. The best way to help someone "Be more confident," is to create a safe and supportive environment where they can learn to trust themselves again.

Absolutely, the journey towards confidence and self-worth for neurodivergent individuals can indeed be fraught with unique challenges. Your reflections on how experiences in school and society can shape one's perception of themselves are poignant and unfortunately all too familiar for many. It's crucial to recognise that the struggles neurodivergent individuals face are often rooted in societal expectations that don't accommodate their unique ways of processing information and interacting with the world. What might be labelled as "mistakes" or shortcomings are often manifestations of neurological differences, not deficiencies in character or ability. Your points about reframing these experiences and providing a supportive environment are spot on. It's about fostering understanding, acceptance, and celebrating neurodiversity rather than trying to force conformity to a narrow standard of behaviour and thinking. Moreover, acknowledging the strengths and capabilities that come with neurodivergence is essential. As you mentioned, neurodivergent individuals often possess remarkable abilities, such as heightened information processing or unique problem-solving skills, which should be valued and nurtured. Creating spaces where neurodivergent individuals feel safe to be themselves, where their contributions are appreciated, and where they can develop a sense of agency and self-trust is paramount. It's not just about building confidence; it's about fostering an environment of empowerment and inclusivity. Thank you for sharing your insights and shedding light on this important aspect of the neurodivergent experience. Let's continue working towards a world where everyone, regardless of neurotype, can thrive and feel valued for who they are. #NeurodiversityAwareness #InclusiveEnvironment #EmpowerNeurodiversity #CelebratingDifferences #SupportingNeurodivergent #AcceptanceMatters #BuildingSelfTrust #ValuingUniqueAbilities #NeurodivergentStrengths #CreatingSafeSpaces #CommunitySupport #PositiveMessaging #RewiringPerceptions #EducateNotDiscriminate #ThriveTogether #MTICBIAI #MyTraumaIsChronicButIAmIconic

Interest based v’s Importance based systems. A large part of society still believes that neurodivergent individuals should work, play and live in neurotypical structures. Change is slow, there is more information about Neurodiversity, with people realising that there is no ‘right’ way to learn or think. Neurodivergent individuals process and communicate in unique ways – sometimes with strengths and sometimes with struggles if compared to a ‘neurotypical’ individual. Today I wanted to share a snapshot of the difference between the Neurotypical (most people) and Neurodivergent people nervous systems. Society generally works on an importance based system, whereas ND individuals and especially AHDH individuals have an interested based system. ⛵ Interest-based: is motivated by tasks that are engaging, novel, and enjoyable. Thriving on personal engagement and curiosity. 📝 Importance-based: prioritizes tasks based on responsibility and external pressures. This difference can make traditional work and school environments challenging. It’s suggested to align with ADHD nervous system, use the acronym PINCH (Passion or Play; Interest, Novelty, Competition or Cooperation, and Hurry). Rather than the traditional approach of rewards and consequences and placing importance of a task someone else or subject, etc. ▶ Passion / Play: Consider if you can make the task more fun or playful? Or can you align it with your passions and meaning? Adding elements of play and passion, like incorporating your favorite hobbies or interests into the task, can help get your system engaged. 🎇 Interest: Try combining tasks with interests IE: you enjoy listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts, pair these with routine tasks like cooking, cleaning or exercising to make the tasks more enjoyable. 🎉 Novelty: Change the environment, the medium that's being used, do what you can to make it different new and exciting. 🏅 Competition: have a group challenge, beat the timer, do it with someone. ⌛ Urgency: Break down projects, impose constraints on your tasks to create urgency. AHDH brains generally wait until its urgent before they start Want to know more reach out and ask me: hello@ndbus.com.au or have a look at the article by Dodson – link below. https://lnkd.in/gNgF5kt7

Is it just me or has the (LinkedIn) world gone a bit AI and Chat GPT crazy? The majority of posts I've seen in 2024 so far have been centred around selling a service using AI!!! Don't get me wrong, I sometimes use Chat GPT to find the solution quicker, but to use it to create services which requires human skill, emotional intelligence and connection is quite bad form and lazy! I was really taken back when I read this article. I see the benefits of using AI to scale up a product that can be widely across larger pools of people (such as organisations). Although, can AI diagnose mental health disorders and provide effective cognitive behavioural therapy for those suffering and seeking mental professional help? Be great to hear your thoughts.
