[Korea and game : small talk 3]
The title of the new Assassin's Creed series has finally been revealed as "Shadows." One of the most notable aspects of this game is its world is Japan.
For Koreans, Japan is a country we have a love-hate relationship with. Japan, being a close neighbor country, has had a significant cultural influence on Korea. Through various fields such as food, games, and anime, Koreans are exposed to Japanese culture. For instance, my first comic book was Dragon Ball. It's so familiar that it's more likely to succeed.
At the same time, due to the painful history, Korean can be sensitive to content related to Japan, especially when it involves political or historical narratives. A recent example is the cancellation of the Korean release of "Rise of the Ronin," which shows that Japanese content must be handled carefully in Korea. Another factor to consider is the relationship between the two countries at the time of the game release. In Korea, the political relationship with Japan significantly affects the consumption of Japanese content.
A game, set Japan as game world, certainly has great potential in Korea, but it also carries significant risks. It is important for contents companies to approach Korean culture with sensitivity.
ASSASSIN’S CREED: SHADOWS - A New Chapter in the Saga
In the 17 YEARS since it launched, the ASSASSIN’S CREED series has taken fans all over the world, from Ancient Greece to Victorian London. Now, fans are getting their first glimpse of ASSASSIN’S CREED: SHADOWS, based in the late 15th century Japan. 🎮
The game introduces dual protagonists: NAOE, a female ninja, and YASUKE, based on a real-life figure often referred to as "the African samurai." The trailer for ASSASSIN’S CREED: SHADOWS has sparked excitement among fans, eager to explore this new chapter in the iconic franchise. 🌏
However, the trailer has also generated some backlash from gamers. Critics have questioned the choice of YASUKE as a main character over a native Japanese protagonist. This controversy highlights the challenges of representing historical diversity in video games. 🤔
Despite the criticism, ASSASSIN’S CREED: SHADOWS promises to be an exciting addition to the series, offering players a chance to experience the rich history and culture of feudal Japan through the eyes of two unique and compelling characters. 🗡️

Why I am buying Assassin’s Creed Shadow! Because most of y’all are boo-hoo, whining, and crying about it. And I think it would be pretty dope to play as this historical character in Assassin’s Creed! It mKe me want to buy the game honestly. While everybody complains about the character being black but not just black a black samurai!! This is not DEI btw. However by others, complaining and moaning about it, boo-hoo whining, and crying it makes me want to buy the game. ##assassincreed##assassincreedshadow
