Many hotel rooms are categorized based on the expected number of occupants: Single Room A single room is generally small and is intended for single occupancy. It will typically have one single-sized bed, although some single rooms are equipped with additional sleeping facilities or may have a second bed added if required. True single rooms are declining as hotels find it more efficient to offer twin rooms. Twin Room A twin room is essentially the same as a single room but comes with two beds instead of one. They are generally lower than double rooms, making them an inexpensive option for two guests traveling together. If necessary, an additional bed can be added with a corresponding charge. Should be an interesting take on OTAs and costs
Hotels and the way they are sold have become commoditised by the actions of the dominant OTAs...and while many OTAs are realising the value of acting as a partner not just a marketplace, there is a need for a more specialised approach' Our very own Catt McLeod FIH Vice President, Brand Development features in the latest edition of Hotel Management International, talking about how the Elegant Hotel Collection is bringing a fresh, consultative approach to luxury hotel representation, one that recognises the importance of a highly personalised approach to the marketing, distribution and sales of hotels in the sector #StayElegant #ElegantHotelCollection #luxuryhotel #luxurytravel #luxurydestinations #beautifuldestinations #traveladvisor #travelguide #travelinspiration #elegant #architecture #travel #hotel #hospitality #boutiquehotel #business #businesstravel

Should breakfast be automatically included in the room price of a 5 star hotel? There is nothing that grates me more than paying for a luxury hotel where you have such high hopes of a fabulous experience and you're let down massively. I often find one of those let downs is when you spend an objectively large amount on a room night yet the hotel does not include breakfast. 5 star #hotelmanagers - are any of you brave enough to comment here and give us some insight. I stayed in a beautiful property outside Barcelona during the summer part of Relais & Châteaux and one of the big sells online was their beautiful spa (no online statement that use of this was extra). Yet when I arrived and asked the opening times to use the pool/plunge pool/sauna, I was greeted with an unnecessary 50eur pp reply. It instantly cheapened my view on this property. I would actually prefer to spend more on the room night with a 5 star hotel and you add in your breakfast and use of spa margin to the room night without me knowing the breakdown, it feels far more luxury. This broken down way of increasing revenue does not feel 5 star. Am I wrong? What am I missing? #5starservice #luxuryhotels #hotelindustry
