At Matterwave we have pursued "Future of Computing" investments for many years - from neuromorphic edge AI to spin qubit quantum computing to custom compute RISC-V design capabilities. It rarely happens that we have the opportunity to think completely from scratch to develop a new general purpose computing platform. Akhetonics is proposing radical innovations on an architectural, substrate, component and toolchain level to bring fully photonic computing to the market. We are excited to announce our investment in Akhetonics, the pioneer of the world's first all-optical digital processor. ⚡ Matterwave Ventures led the €6m funding round and was joined by 468 Capital, Bayern Kapital and existing investors Runa Capital Rheingau Founders Interface Capital Constructor Capital and top business angels. Akhetonics’ groundbreaking technology marks a paradigm shift in computing. By processing and storing information purely with photons instead of electrons, it offers unprecedented processing speed and significantly reduced energy consumption compared to traditional electronic processors. A key advantage is their fully European supply chain, from fabrication to packaging. The European Innovation Council Fund (EIC) has invested 12 million NOK in Sensocure AS, and the total equity investment in this round was 24 million NOK. With this funding we can accelerate commercialization efforts and market access in Norway and Europe for our innovative biomedical sensor IscAlert. “EIC Fund's investment in Sensocure underscores our commitment to backing innovative companies that aim to improve the health and well-being of European citizens.
