Just discovered that Voices, the voice over service we rely on for our video work, is taking an ethical approach to incorporating AI. Instead of replacing voice over artists with AI-generated voices, Voices uses clones of real, professional voice actors on its text-to-speech platform. I always preach that it's important to be "stoic" about generative AI's impact on media and entertainment. This technology is here to stay and its sophistication will only accelerate - so it's critical to accept this reality. With that lens in mind, I always try to identify the risks of genAI to the creative community (and, as many of you know, fundamentally believe that creatives and IP owners must be paid by Big Tech for their scraping of copyrighted works).
