During my time in the Monash Innovation Guarantee, I had the privilege to discover the many ways which innovation can relate to my academic journey alongside a diverse body of fellow innovators. As a result, a concept which really stood out to me was interdisciplinary collaboration. As many of us do, I once withheld the belief that a problem is best solved by individuals with specific expertise in a relevant field. However, I have now come to recognise the incredible value of bringing together multiple backgrounds of expertise to help solve a problem more effectively. Furthermore, it is often only by curating a team consisting of diverse disciplinary and personal backgrounds that assumptions are tested, and more creative ideas are generated. For instance, within my innovation challenge in collaboration with industry partners AiLECS Lab, a Research Centre of Monash University and the Australian Federal Police, my incredible team consisted of many diverse individuals, from fields such as law, criminology, commerce, political sciences, health sciences and more. Ultimately, by looking at our industry challenge from the different lenses provided by our diverse skill sets, our unique insights in marketing, critical thinking, human-centred design and communicative skills helped each other overcome roadblocks when discovering how to increase engagement with the My Pictures Matter campaign. Looking ahead at my future path as an innovator, interdisciplinary collaboration is definitely something I will strive to incorporate into my academic future, particularly when it comes to diversifying the way I approach problem solving. Overall, #MIG2024 has reshaped my view of innovation from being a highly scientific process, to an exciting challenge which is reliant on multiple disciplinary ideologies coming together. Ultimately, by working alongside a diverse team, this can lead to incredible and vital solutions to some of our world's greatest issues.

The European EdTech Ecosystem faces a number of barriers to digital innovation. We have identified seven main areas in our most recent EmpowerED report: ⚠️ Establishing Common Definitions and Terminologies ⚠️Addressing Fragmentation through European Frameworks ⚠️Improving Access to Market Data ⚠️Enhancing Digital Competence in Education ⚠️Creating Balanced and Representative Datasets ⚠️Strategic Funding and Support Mechanisms ⚠️Building Trust and Evidence The report is the first of two planned versions in the EmpowerED project and not only highlights the current gaps and challenges, but also provides example solutions to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and ensure that educational technologies meet the diverse needs of learners across the continent. "𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐁𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞: 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰" In my work as a Futurist and innovation expert am 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, ensuring it doesn't become an elitist preserve. Too often, our focus in future thinking gravitates towards technology, recognizing it as a significant driver of change. While this is undeniably important, I firmly believe that addressing the 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 and understanding what fundamentally motivates us to initiate real transformations is even more crucial. Moreover, my approach emphasizes 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩. I see the skills associated with future thinking as capabilities that should be globally disseminated, not reserved for a select few. Today it is still too much kept to the lucky few, and seen as a skill that can increase ones business advantages only. not create a better world together. 𝐈 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, It is essential to acknowledge that these skills can be acquired by anyone, anywhere, challenging the notion that they are beyond the reach of the general populace. Even stronger we as futurist should make it our live mission to make sure they are accessible to all. Within Wandering the Future we work on democratizing future thinking and make these vital skills accessible to everyone, fostering a more inclusive and equitable future for all. Some of our current project where we actively share future skills for a better tomorrow: - #MissionFuture: educational program for ground school kids about future thinking and innovation, successful piloted with Stichting Campus Nederland. - #K12 program Saudi Arabia for Adhlal: educational program development to increase creativity and innovation amongst youngsters. - #Futureforward Program; a innovation journey to explore, learn and embed future skills in corporate strategy teams. Currently running at Wonen Limburg - Keynote: A hopeful Future which you can book through Speakers Academy® Feel free to connect with me to discuss how we can collaborate on this mission. #FutureThinking #Futurism #DemocratizingFuture #InclusiveInnovation #KnowledgeForAll #HumanCenteredChange #TechAndSociety #BridgeTheGap #FutureSkills #EquitableFuture
