🔍 Designing and Evaluating Insurance Customer Loyalty Programs Based on Lifetime Value 📊 The insurance industry, as one of the largest financial sectors, recognizes that customers create distinctive value due to its service-oriented nature. To enhance customer retention and satisfaction, insurance companies are increasingly implementing tailored loyalty programs. One critical criterion for segmenting customers is their Customer Lifetime Value (CLV). 🔍 Research Overview: Objective: Design and evaluate loyalty programs for insurance industry customers based on their CLV. Methodology: Applied mixed exploratory and cross-sectional research. Population: 800 customers registered in the database of Shiraz insurance branches in 2018. Sample: 40 randomly selected customers who participated in the study. Stages:Program Identification: Reviewed 28 loyalty programs, extracted 15 valid programs, and categorized them. Customer Segmentation: Determined weights for LRFM (Recency, Frequency, Monetary) indexes using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Classified customers into four groups: Key, Intermittent, Prodigal, and Uncertain. Program Prioritization: Used the fuzzy best–worst method (FBWM) to prioritize identified programs for each customer group. 🔍 Key Findings: Key Customers: Prefer intangible and long-term programs (e.g., non-insurance free services, personalized offerings). Intermittent Customers: Favor long-term tangible loyalty programs. Uncertain Customers: Show interest in immediate loyalty programs. Prodigal Customers: Find intangible loyalty programs appealing. 🚀 These insights can guide the formulation of effective loyalty programs in the insurance industry. Competition in India's insurance broking sector is intensifying due to new players and digitalisation. Panellists at the Digital Insurance APAC 2024 conference in Hong Kong, on Thursday (27 June), agreed a lot of change is expected in the next three to five years. John Morley, APAC CEO for Strategy and Technology at Aon, noted India is experiencing “a huge amount of deregulation” in broking. Amit Motwani, Corporate Vice President at Max Life Insurance Company Limited added those changes have lowered entry barriers for web aggregators to take up online insurance broking licence, allowing anybody, even smaller players, to get a licence. While Kim Yan Lim 林金燕- Keynote Speaker, Sales Growth Leader, said Indian brokers can now “collect a lot of data” through digital platforms to better understand customer behaviour and customise products.
