I recently had the privilege of participating in an insightful discussion on the Longevity Economy, hosted by the Surrey Board of Trade. During the conversation, we addressed important issues such as age-related biases in the workforce and transportation challenges. We also explored initiatives such as collecting data on the capabilities of older adults, developing a checklist for age-friendly businesses, organizing job fairs, and forming a collaborative task force with the City of Surrey. One key takeaway that resonated deeply with me was the need to shift the narrative and language surrounding aging. For instance, a fellow participant suggested replacing the term "senior citizens" with "older adults" or "mature adults." This simple yet impactful change in language underscores the importance of how words shape our perceptions. Indeed, language plays a pivotal role in fostering inclusivity and respect. Together, we must work to create a more supportive and age-inclusive environment for people of all generations. #LongevityEconomy #InclusiveWorkplace #AgeInclusion #OlderAdults #AgeFriendly #GenerationalEquity #WorkplaceDiversity #Ageism #InclusiveLeadership #CommunityEngagement #MatureAdults #DiversityAndInclusion #SurreyBoardOfTrade #AgingWell #EconomicEmpowerment #CollaborationForChange #SBOT #shiftingparadigm #shatteringthemyth #reimagined #inspiredrecruiter #candidateagent #scalablehr #talentnow #kitchentablehr #surreystaffing

🌟 Calling All Employers! 🌟 Did you know that employers play a key role in developing youth to become responsible citizens and future community leaders, second only to parents? The START Here program is seeking local employer partnerships! We provide young job seekers with 4 weeks of employment readiness training, including upskilling through micro-credentials tailored to the skills employers like you need. What does a partnership with START Here look like? You decide! Here are some ways we can work together to hire and inspire skilled youth in our community: 🔹 Workplace Tours: Help job seekers gain insight into your company’s operations and industry expectations. 🔹 Mock Interviews: Build job seeker confidence and show youth that employers care. 🔹 Job Trials: Allow youth to understand role requirements before committing, reducing new staff turnover. 🔹 Guest Speaking: Visit our training program to engage in informal conversations and answer questions from youth participants. 🔹 Mini Job Fairs: Assess enthusiasm, communication skills, and suitability beyond an uploaded resume. 🔹 Onboarding: Ensure youth are properly trained to succeed from day one with tailored micro-credentials. 🔹 Subsidized Wage Incentives: Offset a portion of your new hires’ training wages through youth wage subsidies funded by government partners. Chelmsford City Racecourse and Career Transition Partnership ninth Employment Fair of 2024 ✅ I put together a rough steps list for making these Employment Fair videos, which are always completed either same-day or the following morning. The shot list varies slightly for each video but the rest is fairly static; turns out there’s a lot involved! The videos are designed to be quick to shoot and turn-around, rather than needing professional rigs, a laptop, and Final Cut Pro but the more you develop them, the longer they take! All footage is shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a DJI Action 4, and a DJI Mini Pro 4, and is edited using Inshot Pro App on the phone. Often this means I’ll start and finish an edit in the van (as a passenger!) on the way home from an event - particularly for the ones with more than three hours of travel. 1. Film Sl sign-in 2. Film sign/in b-roll 3. Film employer and Sl engagement 4. Mixture of drone footage 5. Time-lapses 6. Hyper-lapses 7. Write intro script 8. Record/film intro piece to camera 9. Screenshot and crop all Social Media feedback on LinkedIn 10. Gather good feedback quotes from SmartSurvey 11. Edit video - Drone intro clips and title, piece to camera, song title, exhibitor/Sl engagement clips, time-lapses, hyper-lapses, speed-ramps, key framing movement, LI screenshots, feedback quotes, logo PIP, booking details, music, sound effects, end titles 12. Colour grade necessary clips 13. Tighten transitions 14. Add any effects/filters/keying 15. Source and add music - adjust video length if necessary 16. Check audio levels 17. Export in 4K and 1080p MP4 18. Upload 4K to Wistia 19. Create thumbnail 20. Write SM copy - including feedback quotes 21. Upload 1080p to LI and FB 22. Upload 4K, feedback screenshots, photos, thumbnail to OneDrive Media folder 23. Create feedback PDF including screenshots, quotes, media coverage, links to video on LI and Wistia - send to business.
