Thank you to Masha Abarinova at Fierce Network for interviewing our COO, Jose Valdez, for this report, which highlights how the city's dense tree canopy is not stopping the deployment of a citywide hybrid network. 🍃 We are not just building a network; we are creating a community-based movement with next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology. As a business-savvy nonprofit, DigitalC is providing high-quality connectivity with symmetrical 100 Mbps for just $18/month, all while planning for growth. 🚀 A “critical challenge” was designing a radio frequency (RF) layout of vertical assets that “offered citywide coverage while maintaining cost-efficiency for both initial deployment and future growth,” Valdez noted. With the support of infrastructure partners like Tarana Wireless, Inc. and BlueBridge Networks, we are ensuring our network is not only resilient but also focused on reaching every resident. Excited to see continued discussions about adopting a technology-agnostic approach that would allow alternatives like #Unlicensed #FixedWireless to complement or replace #Fiber. At Peraso, we believe that embracing alternative technologies is essential for the #NTIA to make real progress in bridging the digital divide and delivering reliable, affordable broadband to all Americans. #Peraso #WirelessUnleashed #FWA #Unlicensed #60GHz
"Other groups, including the Open Technology Institute at New America and WISPA, similarly raised concerns that NTIA’s proposed fiber-first hierarchy may hinder the program’s goal of achieving universal access efficiently and expeditiously." https://lnkd.in/eRZ_jRGx

The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program presents a unique opportunity to address digital equity at scale. With billions in funding allocated to expanding broadband access, communities have a rare chance to tackle longstanding connectivity gaps. Success will depend on more than just deployment—it’s about ensuring everyone can afford and adopt the technology, too. Digital equity doesn’t stop at laying fiber. BEAD infrastructure is required to address affordability, digital literacy, and community engagement. Without a focus on these factors, infrastructure alone won’t solve the divide. Communities need to be prepared with accurate data and clear plans that ensure funding goes where it’s needed most. If your community is preparing for BEAD funding, Breaking Point Solutions can help. Our tools streamline data collection, identify digital equity gaps, and accelerate broadband planning. Contact us today to schedule a demo and see how we can support your mission to achieve digital equity.

The #Altnet industry is at crossroads when it comes to… crossing roads During the 'Infrastructure Sharing Roundtable' at the #INCASummit2024, AssetHUB CEO Rob Leenderts highlighted the potential of using existing infrastructure to overcome obstructions such as roads, rivers and railways and avoid disruption when deploying new fibre. The roundtable, chaired by Guy Miller at MS3 Networks Limited and joined by Shaun Fensom at Cooperative Network Infrastructure and Domhnall Dods at CityFibre explored how sharing assets – such as public or private duct and utility infrastructure - can make connectivity infrastructure more widely available for Altnets and also help them navigate time consuming obstacles. Find out how you can access thousands of assets that can be repurposed to deploy broadband across obstacles on AssetHUB’s marketplace for buying and selling infrastructure here: https://lnkd.in/g7s6KmUM

Recently, our own CEO Tom Maguire participated in the #USTelecom 2024 Broadband Investment Forum alongside others in the industry. U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania John Joyce, M.D. spoke about #Brightspeed’s deployment of fiber broadband in rural communities in his home state. Rep. Joyce participated in the official launch of our Brightspeed Fiber Internet network in Perry County, PA earlier this year. Thanks to his support and the support of local community leaders we are able to deploy our network efficiently to communities that lack quality options for high-speed connectivity.
