In the wake of recent data breaches at AT&T and Ticketmaster, another alarming cyberattack has emerged. National Public Data, a background check company, has reportedly had the personal data of 2.9 billion people compromised by the cybercriminal group USDoD. Sensitive information, including Social Security numbers and addresses, is now allegedly for sale on the dark web, according to reports. In this scenario, data breaches of one business allow attackers to use stolen usernames and passwords to gain access to other accounts where the name and password are the same, and there are no additional security protection layers. If there are stored credit card or bank account details within the user account, it provides an easy means for attackers to quickly drain funds from unsuspecting users. Worse, because there is no “breach” on the secondary business, the transactions may not be flagged. #databreach #cybersecurity #credentialstuffing #cybercrime #cyberinsurance #cyberinsurancebroker #surewise

When a data breach hits a company you do business with, don’t ignore it. The first half of 2024 saw over a billion people’s information leaked online, a staggering 500% increase from the previous year. This phenomenon, known as "breach fatigue," can lead to targeted scams and identity theft. To protect yourself, follow these crucial tips: 1. Use a password manager to securely manage your passwords. 2. Avoid clicking on links from unknown sources. 3. Use credit cards for online transactions for better fraud protection. Stay aware to safeguard your personal information and reduce the risk of falling victim to cybercrime. #DataBreaches #Cybersecurity #DataProtection
