Reflecting on Robyn Benincasa and McKonly & Asbury’s COLLABORATE! 2024. There were so many incredible takeaways, but here are a couple that continue to play for me: - Pain is mandatory, suffering is optional: we are thrown about all the time by circumstance, and while we do not get to choose what happens to us, what we CAN control is our response to them. We can withdraw, blame, whine, and shut down, or we can forge ahead, take ownership, persevere, and wake up. The choice is ours - choose greatness! - If you empower people and let them do what they are good at, a lot of problems will disappear and a lot of opportunities will appear. How does that happen? Give people the white space to come up with great ideas, the freedom to make decisions, and the resources to execute them. And, if you are short on one or all of those, challenge them anyway - the results will amaze you! Important note: this also means giving them the opportunity to learn from and recover from our/their mistakes and having a culture that celebrates when we/they win! - If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Look around. If you are in your career, and in it for the long haul, ask yourself, “Are these the people I want to travel with on this trip?” I have never in my life felt as sure about that as I do at McKonly & Asbury.

Here are some of my key take aways: 🚀 Setting specific diversity goals is the most successful metric to drive DEI 🚀 There can be diversity but lack of belonging, if you want to retain diverse talent it is important to listen and understand how your employees work, what people are thinking and feeling. 🚀 Driving inclusivity is driving a high performing culture. 🚀 Equality and equity is such an important part of understanding every journey is different. 🚀 Be intentional when driving DEI, Meet people at where they are at, understand what groups need help. You have to be targeted you have to be intentional. 🚀 Although people/operations drive DEI everyone is responsible.

As we approach the end of the year, it fills me with excitement to reminisce about the moments and people who made my 2023 an unforgettable year. Such as assisting to the L'ATTITUDE event alongside NAHREP - National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals®. L’ATTITUDE is the largest business event in the country focused on The New Mainstream Economy and helping enlightened executives and business leaders understand the U.S. Latino cohort that is driving its growth. Sharing the room with such dynamic individuals was a privilege — from engaging conversations to exchanging business cards, every interaction was a step toward building meaningful connections. The atmosphere was a celebration of diversity and collaboration, a testament to the strength that emerges when brilliant minds come together. In a world where unity propels success, the memories of that night serve as a reminder of the power of shared dreams and collective strength.
