After my Strategy& and PwC colleagues Alastair McNair Scott, Stuti S., Tom W. and I explored pathways to sustainable packaging, returnable packaging systems, and the shifting aluminum packaging market, we now turn to the capabilities that F&B companies need to optimize packaging in conjunction with their value chain partners. The F&B industry is evolving rapidly and faces a variety of pressures. To help deal with these, F&B companies need to prioritize building the priorities required to use holistic #packaging optimization to increase cost-efficiency, improve #sustainability, and safeguard value chain resilience. Our capability framework for #procurement across the value chain details which capabilities are required, focusing on the three key capabilities, where we see that F&B companies need to make the biggest leap. Packaging is one of the cornerstones in the transition towards a more sustainable and circular economy. Interesting article from PwC taking a holistic approach for Food & Beverage companies. As GS1 we are empower industry with packaging data models and enable F&B companies to share packaging data among eachother and with eco system players like local (tax) governments.

Holistic packaging optimization is a powerful strategy for F&B companies, enabling them to reduce packaging costs by 30%, drastically lower emissions, and ensure value chain reliability. However, many F&B companies face challenges in implementing this approach due to a lack of necessary supporting capabilities. In our article we looked at three critical enablers that can make the most significant impact for F&B companies: https://lnkd.in/ex4S86cA
