This reminds me of my Father. Sometimes people don't realize how much of an impact a father plays in the life of his children. People sometimes downplay a fathers position as head of the family by saying that fathers spend limited time with their children. That is the sacrifice that they make to ensure that everything their child needs are catered for. Sometimes people say that a father should be loving and caring. Of course, but at the same time draw the line between right and wrong and instill discipline, strength and teach their children that life is not made of butterflies and fairy tales but rather of struggle and hardship, how to tackle adversity and challenges and to grow as a person. To have humility and respect for those older both in age and in wisdom and knowledge. To admit mistakes and correct them, and most of all to perfect oneself in the sense of being a better person. In a perfect situation, the mother will talk to her children and provide the comfort for them to confide in but in the case of a father, his role is to be the living, breathing example that he sets for the children, especially to boys. He also becomes the standard that his daughters set for themselves when looking for a partner. At least that is what I learnt from my old man.
