Juts seen this - and found it very powerful. We live in a time of unprecedented challenges and opportunities. We face global issues such as climate change, poverty, inequality, violence, and pandemics. We also have access to amazing resources such as technology, education, innovation, and collaboration. How can we use our potential to create a better future for ourselves and others? How can we make a positive difference in the world? I believe there are three simple but powerful steps that anyone can take to make a positive difference in the world. These steps are: ·       Be aware - being informed, curious, and open-minded ·       Be compassionate - empathetic, caring, kind and respecting and valuing the differences and similarities among us ·       Be active - engaged, involved, committed, creative, innovative, and resourceful. I couldn’t agree more with this sentiment. This belief that every woman is naturally resourceful and capable is not only more empowering but true. This is very much the backbone of a good coaching relationship. Last year I completed Oxford Women’s Leadership Development Programme, and one of the many lightbulb moments was how self doubt can be the enemy of progress for women. For example, research has shown that when men are asked to identify their first experience of leadership, most reference their childhood, perhaps captaining a sports team. Women, on the other hand, typically reference their first managerial role at work. So as we look to the IWD theme; invest in women, accelerate progress, to all the wonderful women in my network, please invest in yourself. Self-acceptance in such a critical part of development, and acknowledging your abilities as a female leader. Here the brilliant Reshma Saujani recalls her own lightbulb moment of self-acceptance, and how it has positively impacted her self-belief, confidence and agency. Success often hinges on mindset; individuals may miss opportunities by doubting their capabilities. The difference between success and stagnation lies in embracing challenges.
