There was resistance to changing at first, and a few bowlers threatened to quit. In the end not a single league bowler has left because we switched to EDGE String. In fact, they love that we just don’t have machine breakdowns anymore. And our leagues are finishing 30 minutes sooner than before - creating more open play time and increasing our overall revenue." Pickleball is harder than you think 🥒 (And apparently has nothing to do with pickles) This past weekend some friends and I celebrated Alex Ream’s birthday at an event+glamping space just south of Austin. They had this pickleball court and we decided to host a lil tournament. Never having played ever, and my partner never having played ever, let’s just say…. We only made it to the 2nd round of the tournament. ((And we had a 1st round bye 😂😂😂)) I love ping pong and venture to say I’m pretty good. So after being told it was very similar to that, I started to get the hang of the game, only for us to lose 30 seconds later. 7-0-1 something something? Idk haha. - - - 😂 But it got me thinking about when we try new things that are a little difficult. Sometimes we have the tendency to quit and give up on it. ((( Or maybe that’s just me 🤔 ))) Like when I did sales for the first time: Hard —> but got good Like when I worked at a church: Chaotic —> but got good. Like when I started speaking in front of crowds for the first time: Scary —> but got good. Like when I started writing poetry and short stories and posting them on the internet: Nerve-racking —> but got good. So I guess my point it, a lot of time, good is just on the other side of hard. ——> Any skills that you almost gave up on but you eventually got really good at?

This week's edition of The Kitchen #pickleball newsletter is unexpectedly packed with politics: politics in an industry sense, with a lawsuit filed against the sport's governing body; but also in terms of American politics, with both primary presidential candidates using pickleball to their advantage.
