5 watch outs for hiring your next agency partner (based on 100s of pitches): ❌ Hyper-focus on the agency’s reputation. ✅ Pay attention to the solution they’ve assembled for you now—their current team’s expertise and fit matter much more. ❌ Get wowed by the senior leaders. ✅ Get to know the account team who you’ll be working with day-to-day. ❌ Base your decision on pitch presentations. ✅ Evaluate agencies based on what happens when they’re not “pitching”—things like their ability to ask smart questions and think on their feet. ❌ Assume any agency that has the right capabilities and expertise is the right fit. ✅ Choose agencies that align with your values, culture, and long-term goals. ❌ Make your decision based on price. ✅ Only engage with agencies that fit your budget, so you can focus on the value potential partners will bring to your organization. What mistakes have you made (or seen others make) when selecting an agency?

Most people think that hiring a salesperson will give them back time and freedom. It can...but it has to be done the right way. If it isn't, it will have the opposite effect. Why? Because people rarely think about the amount of time and work it takes to process those deals. Let's say you are doing 20 deals and barely managing them, so you hire someone to help with the sales. Now, you are doing 15, they are doing 15, and everything seems to be running amazingly until the deals need to be processed. Except now, the paperwork has doubled, and the more success you get, the harder it becomes to keep up. This is why it's almost always best to begin with hiring an admin person. They can get work off your plate immediately, and not only that but having a well-oiled business makes for a more appealing offer when you eventually start looking for a salesperson. Now that you aren't needed to process the payments, your focus can shift to closing more deals or growing your sales team. But this time, you get to be busy growing your business.

Learn to love the sales cycle—it’s the engine that drives growth for you and your clients’ businesses. In my business, that means understanding the purpose of a well-designed landing page and celebrating with clients when deals close. A landing page is where the sales cycle kicks off. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about putting an offer into the world and validating its value. A well-designed landing page starts conversations, moving ideal customers from “interested” to “I’m in.” By embracing the sales cycle as a continuous feedback loop—where you present, adjust, and improve your offer—you create opportunities to grow and celebrate wins. Embrace this process, and you’ll help drive success for both you and your clients. -- Hi I'm Nickolas 👋🏼 I run a small design/ dev studio we're we embrace the sales cycle and help founders put their offering in front of their ideal customers. Pro-tip when hiring an agency: Bigger doesn’t always mean better. Focus on expertise and specialization. A smaller, specialized team can often deliver more personalized and focused attention than a large agency with a one-size-fits-all approach. And always ask to speak directly with the team who will be handling your account. Don’t get caught in the bait-and-switch.

Why does a CRO agency make sense? I was just asked this by my speaking coach. And after I explained it, his response shocked me: "Wait… that’s all you charge? You’re too cheap for what you offer!" Here’s the thing: → Hiring an agency is cheaper than building an in-house team. → It’s more efficient—we bring the tools, expertise, and proven strategies. → And we’re focused 100% on driving results. Our job? To test, optimize, and help you unlock more revenue without guesswork. The truth is, most brands leave $$$ on the table every single day because they aren’t testing enough—or at all. So…does hiring a CRO agency make sense? Absolutely. What do you think—are agencies undervalued? 👇 Drop your thoughts below!
