Diller Scofidio + Renfro’s Post

DS+R has recently secured approval from the City of Madrid and local property owners to proceed with the final documentation for the Renazca masterplan—a renovation spanning eight city blocks of Azca. Renazca reimagines Azca’s 1970s deteriorated public spaces as an urban forest, integrating green infrastructure with water and waste reuse systems from nearby towers, and increasing the district's greenspace by 86%. This milestone follows a four-year collaboration with the city and local community to align with the aspirations of all stakeholders, and could not have been accomplished without Miguel Hernández of the Europe Urban Regeneration Council, who played a key role in uniting nearly 75 stakeholder groups.
