As Construction Safety Week officially kicks off, we're shining a spotlight on the individuals within our company who champion construction safety every day, starting with Risk Engineer Rob Labbe, Jr., CSP. For three decades, Rob has been a stalwart in the construction industry, forging connections and gathering insights to share along his journey. A key focus of his advocacy is mental health and suicide prevention, a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of construction safety. Rob's presentations to contractors sheds a light on sobering statistics – an estimated 1,000+ construction workers succumb to job-related injuries or illnesses annually, while an additional 5,500 members of the industry lose their lives to suicide. Rob amplifies this message at speaking engagements such as CFMA and Associated General Contractors of America national conferences, urging firms to adopt proactive measures and provide support systems.
Rob uses Construction Safety Week as an opportunity to foster dialogue and encourage action across all organizational tiers, from those on the jobsite to those in the C-suite, continually promoting a culture of safety that transcends workplace boundaries. Rob also extends his efforts to the wider community, exemplified by his recent role as event chairperson for the Hike for Hope – Bear Mountain in NY. This endeavor raised over $100,000 to support the work of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and brought together more than 500 individuals to raise awareness and offer their support. Rob's unwavering commitment to safety and mental health ensures that worksites aren't just efficient but also serve as safe havens for all. Let's use this week to honor all safety advocates like Rob, whose commitment to excellence safeguards the well-being of the entire construction industry!

2moOur 185 First AId/CPR/AED/Naloxone trained employees now have access to project based medical backpacks. The backpacks have an AED, CPR barrier, (2) 2-blister packs of Naloxone, stop the bleed kit, plus ice packs, etc. Based on feedback from a project team, we introduced the backpacks following a successful opioid overdose reversal using Naloxone in 2023. The team found it difficult to transport all of the AED, Naloxone and supplies to the point of use.
