Immediate application is the best way to learn something new, fast. When learning a new concept, find a way to put it to use and explain it to someone else. This forces you to internalize the information with intent, then apply your own voice and PoV to what you've learned. Watching a presentation on a topic or reading about it on your own isn't enough. You need to put it to practice.
