Thrilled to share that our paper has been accepted at #MICCAI2024, placing us among the top 31% submissions! 🎉 Our research, MuST: Multi-Scale Transformers for Surgical Phase Recognition, introduces a flexible architecture for automatic surgical phase identification. One of the challenges of recognizing phases in a surgical procedure is that the duration of these stages is highly variable across surgeries for different patients. For this reason, we developed a model that captures complex short-, mid-, and long-term temporal relationships using attention mechanisms. MuST surpasses state-of-the-art models across three standard benchmarks, highlighting the importance of multi-scale processing in surgical workflow analysis. Special thanks to our amazing team! 🧠 Santiago R., Nicolás Ayobi Mendoza, Nicolas Aparicio Claros, Eugénie Dessevres, and our supervisor Pablo Arbaláez. Dear MRI Community, In recent discussions, we've focused on one of the most commonly adjusted MR parameters: 𝙉𝙎𝘼, also known as 𝙉𝙀𝙓. This adjustment is often made to optimise scan time and signal. However, before altering NEX, several important considerations should be taken into account: 1. 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝: Ensure you consider the strength of the magnetic field you're working with. Higher field MR scanners, such as 3T machines, generally offer higher SNR due to increased signal intensity. 2. 𝙏𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚: Different sequences react differently to changes in NEX. Sequences like inversion recovery (e.g., STIR) may be more sensitive to reduced signal intensity. Adjusting NEX could significantly impact the final image quality, so it's crucial to assess the sequence type beforehand. 3. 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙞𝙯𝙚: The size of the patient plays a significant role in image quality. Larger patients typically exhibit higher levels of noise due to increased tissue thickness and volume. Adjustments to parameters like NEX may be necessary to maintain a decent SNR level. For all these tips & tricks about NSA / NEX watch the 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 at the following link: https://lnkd.in/eSwgbCP8 In addition, do not forget to follow the Everything MRI on our social medial platforms. A new podcast episode about 𝙈𝙍𝙄 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙧 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡 will be released tomorrow. There is also a new 𝘼𝙄 & 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 event coming for which you can already register for free. Do not miss the opportunity and save your spot! Thank you for your invaluable support 🙏🏻 #ImageOptimisation #NEX #NSA #ScanTime #Signal #SNR #TradeOFF
