True reconciliation requires more than words; it calls us to walk alongside one another and to learn from one another, seeking justice and reconciliation for all. 🧡 Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as people of faith, let us recommit ourselves to that transformative path by remembering the victims, survivors, families and communities affected by residential schools. Let us act in favour of greater justice and reconciliation for Indigenous peoples, which will be a blessing for all. The pain endured is deep and our journey toward healing and justice continues. https://hubs.ly/Q02RphGf0 If you don’t know what to do or where to start, here are two simple ways: 1️⃣ Engage locally: Seek out events in your area to listen, learn and stand in solidarity. Every step toward understanding is a step toward healing. 2️⃣ Explore deeper: The Jesuit Forum's ""Listening to Indigenous Voices"" guide is a powerful resource to foster dialogue and transformation through the visions, stories and words of Indigenous artists and knowledge keepers. https://hubs.ly/Q02Rpcjs0 Learn more about our work with First Nations. https://hubs.ly/Q02Rp7j_0

Integrating AI to Empower Educational Excellence for our Students' Future | Educator | Organizational Transformer | Consultant
Is the Jewish community still relevant today? Why do we need Jewish organizations, and what purpose do they serve in today's world? What values justify our communal efforts? What are the core values that drive our extensive social and communal activities? What strategies can we use to instill a sense of responsibility for all Jews? These are just some of the questions The Center for Jewish Peoplehood Eduction is exploring in its work. I am so excited to have just started a project with Ezra Kopelowitz and the team as they build out a pilot workshop that addresses these and other questions. Together, we are looking at the overarching goals of the organization, examining the needs of the Jewish community in a post October 7 world, and designing this workshop in alignment so that educators walk out with key knowledge and understandings and tangible takeaways to impact their work. I am really inspired by the work of this organization and the people involved -- including the familiar faces of some of their fellows: Alex Pomson, David Bryfman, Samantha Vinokor-Meinrath, Faith Brigham Leener, Osnat Fox.

➡ ➡ Check out the latest video in our series Sensemaking with Horizons: Director for Race & Democracy, Jarvis Williams, has a conversation with Shun Tucker-Allen, Senior Faith Partnerships Coordinator at Fair Count about her work organizing with faith communities in the South. As more pro-democracy organizers and funders seek to engage more deeply with faith communities around the country, Shun shares her experience of fostering trusting relationships that are not transactional; being creative about building on the existing infrastructure and activities already happening within communities; not assuming that you need to go to the largest churches or directly to the pastors to have an impact; and, the importance of taking a long-term perspective to this work even in the face of urgent electoral cycles. 🔗 in comments

Today, on September 30th, we pause to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. For Indigenous communities, this day is not only about remembering the past but also about fostering healing, understanding, and renewal. As an Indigenous-owned business, we stand in solidarity with Survivors and their families, as well as all those working towards meaningful reconciliation. This day reminds us of the importance of acknowledging the truth and taking active steps to learn, listen, and support Indigenous voices. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is Call to Action #80 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action—one of only 13 completed actions. We encourage everyone to seek out resources, engage in conversations, and honor the spirit of reconciliation by educating themselves on the significance of this day, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. Together, we can build a future grounded in respect, inclusion, and healing for all. /// Learn More About Truth & Reconciliation Beyond 94 - https://lnkd.in/girDBcdh What is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation? - https://lnkd.in/g8KnxV65 Truth and Reconciliation 94 Calls to Action Explained - https://lnkd.in/gdJ-dWas #TruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousVoices #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters #ReconciliationCanada

Hope for the Future: Chief Don Tom Listen to Chief Don Tom from Tsartlip First Nation share his vision for reclaiming justice for Indigenous Peoples and the need to honour our Ancestors and breath hope into the future. “Their [colonial] laws benefit generally the Canadian population, and doesn’t particularly look at the interests of the First Nations. We want to see our people thrive, we want to see them have the best opportunities available to thrive in their lives and to be the people they can be, to speak the language, to…when we look at our own structures and our own systems it’s always meant to uphold us, to make us better people, making us closer to the Creator.” Chief Don Tom, of the Tsartlip First Nation shares his vision for reclaiming justice for Indigenous Peoples at the 3rd Annual BC First Nations Justice Forum. He expresses the importance of the opportunities First Nations in BC have to assert control over their own respective justice systems. Chief Don Tom brings attention to the need to honour those who were denied justice in the past and advocating for accountability while breathing hope into the future. He reflects on the crucial recognition of First Nations laws and legal orders and highlights the need for a productive partnership with the BC government. https://lnkd.in/dt9ZwCSP 3rd Annual Justice Forum What We Heard Report: https://lnkd.in/gnWzvwS8 #WhatWeHeard #3rdAnnualJusticeForum #BCFirstNationsJusticeForum #FirstNations #Indigenous #Law #BCFNJC #BC #BritishColumbia #ProvinceofBC #LawFoundation #IndigenousLeadersSpeak

150 PEOPLE WALKED THE BOY TO SCHOOL After a Jewish boy in Toronto's Clanton Park public school was bullied for being Jewish. Toronto's Jewish community came to walk him to school and stand by his side. The Jewish community should be proud of itself. The school district and leaders, less so. via Aliza Schrier

"To say I left the conference with hope would be an understatement. Because besides hope, I had a strong sense of wonder at how many young people have been moved by their faith in Jesus at a time when it seems like many aspects of our Church are in decline."
