How do you reach your dreams? 💛 I learnt to work with the step-by-step approach on the Camino de Santiago – quite literally. 👣 When walking toward Santiago de Compostela, I had a vision, a distant destination, a dream. It was unknown. I did not know what to expect or if I'd even make it. 👣 I had weekly and daily plans: How far do I want to go? How can I adjust my backpack? Who am I walking with? Where will I sleep? What will I eat? These plans were adjusted regularly. 👣 But in the end, it came down to walking every step of the way: Observing what my body, mind and soul need. Listening. And catering to the needs as much as possible. It came down to just going forward despite the rain, wind, heat; blisters, joint pain, thirst. One step at a time. -- I call arriving in Santiago in front of the cathedral a dream. When I started it seemed unreachable. When I started I did not know what to expect on the Way. When I started I had the drive toward a blurry goal. -- I am grateful that this year I could walk on a – much shorter – pilgrimage. This was not the same dream but a wonderful reminder of many things I learnt and experienced on the "French Way". ➡ I'll be sharing more about my experience on the "English Way" of the pilgrimage in my next newsletter. ➡ Subscribe if you want to learn more! ➡ https://lnkd.in/dExJTHuY

Growing up, one of my favourite authors was Jules Verne. I read almost all his books by the age of ten. Now these books were Bengali translations of his works and hence were much cheaper than their English counterparts. The pages were coarse, the print quality was not great, but I didn’t mind those imperfections one bit. Jules Verne became my ‘Pied Piper’ who made me dream and removed all the boundaries that my modest background tried to impose on me. I imagined travelling to exotic places using Nautilus, powered by sodium and mercury batteries. I was always Captain Nemo for these adventures, by the way. His books were probably the catalyst that stimulated my signature strengths: Love for Learning and Curiosity. Today, I have lost some of my childhood innocence. But one thing has stayed on – my love for travelling. Over the years, I have experienced ‘liberation’ every time I travelled. I realized that the place does not matter, so long you are ready to keep an open mind and rewire your brain to absorb new experiences. As we transition into the next phase of our lives, we, the hapless couple smitten by the travel bug, has launched our travel vlog - A Storyteller's Backpack. We believe that every place has a unique tale waiting to be discovered. Our mantra is simple – ‘Travel slow to Remember more’. Our plan is to undertake spiritual journeys as we travel through cultures, traditions, and landscapes and craft stories along the way. We are confident that the process will make us happier, as we would be reminding ourselves, “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” - Gustave Flaubert If the happy mocktail of Travel + Happiness + Stories work for you, subscribe to ‘A Storyteller’s Backpack’ and let’s explore the world together! Have a wonderful weekend ahead! #TravelHappiness #Happiness #Wellbeing #LifeWellTravelled #SlowTravel #StorytellersBackpack #TravelTales

Yesterday, I spent two captivating hours "nerding out" on #CrisisCommunications with Helio Fred Garcia during PRSA Travel & Tourism Section's webinar on "Maintaining Trust in a Crisis." Here's just one of the many takeaways: Did you know the word "crisis" has deep roots in both Ancient Greek and Mandarin? (Yeah, me either). κρίσις: the moment of choice 危机: Wé [danger] + ijī [opportunity] Together these translations create a simple yet profound definition: A crisis is the moment when trust is at risk, demanding a critical choice. 💡
