Good Evening, Network! Can I steal a moment of your time? 🩸 Join Me in Supporting the Sickle Cell Society! 🩸 If you know me, you'll know that running has always been out of my comfort zone. However, over the past six weeks, I've caught the running bug and found a new passion! To put this newfound enthusiasm to good use, I’ve decided to run a 10K to support the Sickle Cell Society, a cause that is incredibly important to me. Approximately 17,500 people in the UK have Sickle Cell disorder, leading to severe pain and life-threatening complications. Despite its widespread impact, it often doesn't get the attention it deserves. This run is not just about pushing my limits, but about raising awareness and funds for a cause that impacts so many lives. The Sickle Cell Society provides essential research, support, and care for individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease, and your contribution can make a significant difference. 💡 Did You Know? - Sickle cell disease is the most common genetic blood disorder in the world. It primarily affects people of African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean heritage. - Regular blood transfusions and medications can help manage symptoms, but there is currently no universal cure. 🙏 How You Can Help: 1. Many families struggle to get a diagnosis for their children who have rare or complex conditions. Genetic testing can help them find the cause of their child's symptoms and get the right treatment. However, some insurance companies do not cover genetic testing, leaving these families with a huge financial burden. That's why donating to Take Part Foundation is so important. Take Part Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides funding for families who get denied access to genetic testing by their insurance but need the test to help diagnosis their child in order to get coverage for their needs. By donating to Take Part Foundation, you can make a difference in the lives of these families and help them get the care they deserve. We are thrilled to announce Fasanara Capital's partnership with La Fondazione Acaref - A.C.A.RE.F. Foundation (the Allied Community Ataxia Research Foundation). This charity supports scientific research on ataxic syndromes and champions projects that aid those with disabilities and societal vulnerabilities.   A.C.A.RE.F joins a vetted group of charities for Fasanara’s Race To The Top Challenge, an initiative which involves special share classes where investors' donated proceeds are matched by Fasanara, which will contribute an equivalent percentage of its fees from these share classes to such charities. The organisation is focused on the treatment of Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 1 (SCA 1) and Type 2 (SCA2), a complex and severe genetic neurodegenerative disease that leads to progressive loss of motor coordination and balance, difficulty speaking, swallowing and breathing, as well as spasticity and cognitive deficits.   A.C.A.RE.F's primary goal is to raise funds to support ongoing research projects aimed at treating and curing Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type I and Type 2. I donated on Wednesday during the #BloodDrive at the statewide headquarters for the Colorado Department of Transportation (#CDOT), a #GreatAgency in the #government of the #GreatState of #Colorado that supports the important work of Vitalant and others in the national #blood network. When I googled "Why is it so important to donate blood" there was an abundance of terrific answers – if you have never donated, please consider this one: “You may not be able to discover a cure for cancer, but you can help keep someone alive while they are waiting for a cure.” I encourage everyone to donate blood! #IceBucket10 ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease and every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS—it robs a person of the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. And what’s even worse is that right now, there’s no cure. It’s going to take all of us, working together, to finally see a world without ALS. 2024 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Ice Bucket Challenge. On August 6th at 1:30pm, PVS will host the Ice Bucket Challenge to support the cause and aid in finding a cure. Some PVS Leaders will get a bucket of confetti and some will get a bucket of ice cold water. Guess what? You determine who gets drenched with which item. The Top 3 based on donations get ice and the others get confetti. Donations for the Ice Bucket Challenge run until Monday, August 5th.
