#hiring. When I was hiring, I looked first for work ethic and a "can do" attitude, then for experience. But, those were for jobs in an early career stage. For later career stage: my neighbor was hiring & said, "oh CandA hasnt done X in our field in 5 years, I like this one who had been doing X for 10 years". I say it deserved a further look. Lets be honest, unless youre doing something like AI that has made marked improvements in 5 years, or you have some memory debilitation, you remember the main tasks of that role. QUESTIONS: Has the CandA learned new skills that could benefit you? Is CandA more accomplished? Meaning, Id rather have an "A" candidate than a "get by" person doing a job 10 yrs. Because CandB is in that job doesnt mean he kept up on current trends, for instance. I dont know who my neighbor selected, but it just shows that one piece of info isnt usually the total answer. Right?
