Question: What’s the difference between Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT)? Both are vital in healthcare, but each has its own unique approach to rehabilitation and wellness. 🔹OT focuses on helping patients perform daily life activities, adapting to environments, and using creative solutions for better living. 🔹PT concentrates on physical rehabilitation, improving strength, and mobility. In our two-year Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program, you will learn to assist individuals of all ages to overcome physical and cognitive challenges, enabling them to live fuller, more independent lives. Whether you’re assisting a child with developmental disabilities or helping an elderly patient adapt to their home environment, your role as an OTA is about making meaningful impacts every day. Supporting Teen & Young Adult Career Development 🚀 to LAUNCH into Successful Futures | Career Coach | Master Birkman Certified | Entrepreneur
Occupational Therapy Career Close-Up On a personal note....Chris, our guest, is my niece-in-law 😍 I had the privilege of watching her journey play out. And when, in October, she shared some surprises as a new OT in a hospital setting, I thought - my listeners and teens need to hear this! Highlights: -Job shadowing is critical for deciding between speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. -OT school prerequisites vary, so students must research the requirements for each school they are considering. -OT doctoral programs are very intensive three-year programs with no summers off. -Finding a work-life balance and not taking work home is an adjustment for new occupational therapists. https://buff.ly/3PZwpqb

🌟 Exploring Tunnels in Occupational Therapy 🌈🧒 Tunnels aren’t just for trains! In occupational therapy, tunnels are fantastic tools for children’s development. Let’s dive into how they benefit our little explorers: 🌟Sensory Exploration: Crawling through tunnels provides a sensory-rich experience. The enclosed space stimulates touch, proprioception, and spatial awareness. 🌟Motor Skills: Crawling helps strengthen core muscles, improve coordination, and enhance gross motor skills. Plus, it’s loads of fun! 🌟Spatial Awareness: Tunnels challenge kids to navigate tight spaces, boosting their understanding of body position and movement. 🌟Imagination: Tunnels transform into secret caves, wormholes, or magical passages. Encourage imaginative play! Activities with Tunnels: 🌟 Obstacle Course: Set up an obstacle course with tunnels, pillows, and other props. Kids can crawl, climb, and explore. 🌈 Hide-and-Seek: Hide toys or objects inside the tunnel. Kids love peeking in and discovering surprises! 🚀 Storytime Adventures: Read stories about tunnels (like “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”). Then, let kids act out the journey through their own tunnel. 🎨 Decorate Your Tunnel: Use fabric, stickers, or glow-in-the-dark tape to personalize the tunnel. Let creativity flow! Remember, tunnels encourage movement, creativity, and social interaction. So, let’s tunnel our way to growth! 🌟🧒🌟 #OccupationalTherapy #ChildDevelopment #Playtime #TunnelFun #OTLife

What being an OT means to me.
I love being an occupational therapist and I love what it means. To me, occupational therapy is about assisting others to engage in occupations that are essential to them and also what they find meaningful and enjoyable. As you can probably tell, I love the great outdoors, getting away on weekends camping and surfing. These are activities which I love and contribute to an overall sense of occupational balance for me. I want to assist others to engage in occupations and activities that they love so they can find their own personal enjoyment, fulfilment and occupational balance. I’m excited for the journey and what lies ahead for life solutions OT, and I can’t wait to keep making a difference to people’s lives!
