Today we give thanks, but we also honor #NationalDayOfMourning – remembering Indigenous and Native American ancestors, recognizing the history of colonization in the U.S., and the perseverance in the ongoing fight for every Native family despite systemic racism and disparities. The #BlanketChange movement demands policymakers and political candidates prioritize our nation’s families and take immediate action to improve their health. Take action: https://lnkd.in/gdUn-RTE

Today is National Sorry Day, a day that acknowledges the trauma, displacement and suffering endured by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as a result of the forced removal of children during the Stolen Generations. We acknowledge the strength and resilience of Aboriginal people and communities and we stand in solidarity with First Nations people in their ongoing fight against systemic oppression and injustice. We recognise that the social, economic, political, emotional, psychological and physical health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is dependent upon the dismantling of the systems that continue to impact their communities. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are still being removed from their families at alarming rates. We need to listen to the voices of First Nations people and communities to find the solutions. We cannot continue to just acknowledge the forced removal of children in the past, while it continues to happen today. We know that words are not enough, we must take action. Endless cycles of systemic oppression, racism and injustice cannot continue. We must listen to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and invest in their self determined solutions. #SorryDay #Sorry

Entrenched political affiliations are virtually impossible to change. Despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, those on the left remain on the left and those on the right remain on the right. Ostensibly, there are outliers but they remain in the minority. Unfortunately, This is a hard discussion but it’s long overdue. This is that quintessential epiphany moment that you always knew was coming. Every election cycle the same scenario plays out with voters: extreme vilification of the other side. Deception par excellence, fear mongering, and outright hostility break out. It becomes a feeding frenzy, as both parties chum the waters and the sharks come out to feast. Regardless of personal political affiliation, the process is identical. For the left wing it is unbearable to entertain the notion of conservative ideas. For the right wing, it’s preposterous to follow a socialist-style agenda. Never the two shall meet? Not quite, there is definitely a happy medium where both extremes will find common ground. The Jewish security crisis is the perfect case in point. The extreme antisemitism rocking the country is a clear and present danger to all Jews in America. As a Jew, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a left-leaning pacifist or a right-wing activist, you’re still a Jew to the hateful wrecking crew. When the mobs arrive they don’t care about your political affiliations. They care only that you’re a Jew. And that means you’re enemy number one to the pro-Hamas mobs ransacking our country and bringing terror to the streets. Ask yourself the hard questions: Are The Democrats going to protect me and my family? Have they protected you and your family with the pro-Hamas college riots? The BLM mayhem? The BDS targeting of Jewish businesses? Be honest. Maybe, just maybe it’s time to rethink political allegiance. Remember, safety first. Peripheral issues can wait. By teaming up with moderate Democrats and the GOP you will force your ideas to be adopted. What’s important to you will become important to the politicians. Never be afraid of making positive changes. Your life and livelihood may depend on it. #AmericaStrong #StandWithIsrael #DestroyHamas

Thought for tonight. After the 14th of October it just doesn’t stop 🛑 at that date. Whatever the outcome is it’s imperative that YOU still help yourself to understand about the issues that Aboriginal people are faced with. We need real change and to have change YOU need to Educate yourself on why we fight for our Land and why we are passionate about our culture our practices our LORE our Language and most importantly our mob. Before I leave the flesh life and enter into the dreaming or spirit world. I want to see changes in life expectancy, reduce incarceration rates, our babies staying staying with their families, children getting better education outcomes and I want to see real change in helping communities and people heal trauma. Healing in communities is the end game it’s the goal. Healing the mind body and spirit to live a prosperous life for all is the end game. Voting is just the start to equipping yourself with knowledge and we all know knowledge is power. Never be to afraid to ask all the questions. Because if you don’t know how are you supposed to understand the issues at hand and to work to help addressing them. Think about the changes you make to help build healthy sustainable relationships and practice real reconciliation amongst yourself, workplace and community. Teach your children Truth Fact and Reality. Because change starts with us now. Changing the way we think about helping and healing a nation to be able to come together should be at the forefront of our minds it should embed everything we do so that we all feel connected to this wonderful Country we call home. The first steps start with YOU 👊🏾

Today marks Indigenous Peoples' Day, when we honor and celebrate Indigenous communities, their invaluable histories, and vibrant cultures. We also solemnly acknowledge the violent legacy of European colonialism, which has left deep scars on Indigenous communities and continues to perpetuate trauma and inequity. We invite you to join us as we reiterate our commitment to providing culturally sensitive care for Indigenous children and families. Chelle McIntyre-Brewer explains that to provide such care, we must acknowledge "the specific instances of historic trauma that have occurred from the inception of colonization from Europe is a first step in understanding Indigenous perspectives.” In addition to physical acts of genocide and violence, discriminatory legislation, cultural suppression, and indoctrination are all instances of historical trauma that we must acknowledge to gain a better understanding of Indigenous perspectives. You can learn more about providing culturally competent care for Indigenous children and families in our four-part webinar series "Indigenous Perspectives in the Clinical Setting," available to members and students at no cost. Led by Chelle McIntyre-Brewer, the series examines key issues, themes, and practical information intended to better equip child Life professionals to engage with Indigenous communities and individuals more successfully. We must decide and make the change to become better ancestors today, to benefit the generations to come. Join us at WE WIN Together Week. Let’s learn and build together! https://lnkd.in/djfkqnX5
