Do you feel a little bit broken? WARNING: The video i am sharing is deeply offensive. But it also features bravery. So please, please, watch. I do. After a weekend where I struggled to put down my phone, watching countless videos of the RACIST, FACIST far right destroy towns, beat, hurt, and try to kill people who look like me, it is hard not to to be a bit traumatised. What has been happening in the UK has nothing to do with the murder of three young girls. It has nothing to do with immigration policy. It has everything to do with fear mongering and racism. There is nothing about it that is a protest. Plain and simple. I'm grateful we didn't see anything in the town I live in. But now, all i think about is will my boys be ok. Are there kids in their schools who are being brought up in households where racism thrives. Will there be kids at their school who will want to hurt them. Because, let's face it, while I know the scenes I'm watching are being caused by a minority who do not represent the majority of people in the UK, how can people that are my colour, or Black or from the Muslim faith not be fearful to walk down the road. Well done to those in the towns and cities that came out in opposition - you risked your lives to say NO. I run a community full of brown and black people. All entrepreneurs. Diversity X remains committed to supporting underestimated founders, and we stand in solidarity with all those who are targeted by these abhorrent acts. We believe in the power of diversity, equity, and inclusion to drive positive change, and we will continue to advocate for a society where everyone is treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or background, gender, disability, age, or socio-economic background. What will you do? What will you do to call it what it is - racist and Islamophobic attacks? I ask because today I feel a bit broken. #antiracism #riots #racism #UK https://lnkd.in/e7R7saBD

Taking a break from themes such as #AIACT, #GenerativeAI and #Am-I-AI-? let's focus just for a moment on spring, light, the power of stories to change and to communicate and the 'whyness' of your hard work. Today is #IMBOLC - the beginning of spring and the festival of light in the old Celtic tradition. It's a day of positivity, when new beginnings happen, when the fruits of our labours may start to be seen.......if we've done it right. It is also a day to celebrate for other, important reasons. Brigid's Day is now a national holiday in #Ireland, following years of campaigning by many groups including #herstory to bring about equality, representation and identity in terms of how we celebrate, what we remember and why. You can read all about the incredible campaign that took place in Ireland. Brigid, who is a Celtic Goddess and a religious saint crosses boundaries; for some it unites otherwise disparate groups. Whether it's in work or in life, knowing our "story", why we do what we do and what we are trying to achieve is essential to #communication, to bridge gaps and bring people together. Take a moment for yourself, you deserve it. Maybe though you could also think of your story, your company's story and what your customers and clients hear. Make the message work whether it's personal, your branding, your organisational imperative or for humanity. https://lnkd.in/ecyrX3ZQ

Understanding The Protestant Reformation & The Born Again Nation: In Samuel Huntington's book "Who Are We?" he thoroughly explores the profound influence of Protestantism on the cultural and societal fabric of the United States. The roots of Protestantism in America date back to the early 17th century when Puritans, seeking religious freedom, played a significant role in the colonization of the country. Over time, various Protestant denominations, including Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and others, took root in the American colonies. Huntington delves into the concept of being "born again," a term that signifies a spiritual rebirth or conversion experience, emphasizing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Evangelical Protestantism, with its focus on personal salvation and evangelism, emerges as a driving force in shaping American Christianity. The Protestant work ethic, emphasizing hard work, discipline, and frugality as virtues, is another critical aspect Huntington addresses. This ethic, associated with the rise of capitalism, finds its historical roots in Protestant values. Max Weber's influential work, "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism," further explores the connection between Protestantism and economic development. Huntington also discusses the principle of the separation of church and state, rooted in Enlightenment thinking and reflected in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This principle aims to prevent the establishment of an official state religion, ensuring religious freedom for all citizens. Examining religious diversity in the U.S., Huntington acknowledges that the nation is home to a wide variety of Christian denominations and non-Christian religions. This diversity reflects a commitment to religious freedom, a concept integral to the U.S. Constitution. The First Amendment guarantees the free exercise of religion and prohibits the establishment of an official state religion, contributing to the pluralistic fabric of American society. Regarding the impact of mass immigration and the counter-culture movement, Huntington argues that these factors challenge the traditional American identity: The counter-culture movement emphasizing cultural pluralism over a shared national identity weakens the cohesive fabric that has historically bound Americans together. The counter-culture movement challenges the assimilation process, contributing to a fragmented society, and often rejects core values rooted in the Christian tradition, weakening the moral and cultural foundations that define the United States. The emphasis on cultural diversity and the devaluation of a shared national identity erode the sense of national unity, with identity politics further complicating the cohesion of American society. In essence, Huntington contends that these challenges pose a threat to the longstanding principles and identity that have defined the United States. https://lnkd.in/eCQqBhJW
