💰💵😨 Fear of money. I have been working with a woman who was self aware enough to tell me she is afraid to have a lot of money. I find this often when I explore finances with women specifically. Have you ever felt this way? I know that I definitely did. Ellevest and Sallie Krawcheck nailed it when they coined the catchphrase “Nothing bad happens when women have more money”. I have a poster on my wall that reminds me of this and I hope gets the message into my daughter’s head too. I feel it in my body when I read those words and how they speak to a silent 🤫 rule or pact I made somewhere when I was young somehow. Some vow of poverty I took on and never reconsidered. I notice for me how the fear of having money is very deep down buried beneath my conscious mind somewhere in my sub-conscious. I got the message that me having or wanting money was bad over years and years of conditioning, about motherhood and unpaid labor, being underpaid at jobs and denied retirement or health benefits, and told to be grateful instead of ask for more. Also fear that if I had money I would morph into a selfish mean snobby materialistic gross person. Having money isn’t bad. Money magnifies who you already are. Money is an opportunity to be more of who you are. And if we fear it, we definitely cut ourselves off from resources we need for our health and care and safety. Agree? Know what I mean about fear of money? #money
