Talent Solution: I imagine you would agree that executive leadership sets the culture and tone of an organization. Leaders motivate, set the pace and cadence, as well as modeling clear standards of behavior. Leaders should also have a steady hand on the tiller in times of organizational stress and uncertainly which seems to be a steady state these days. Understanding leadership culture when selecting key executive talent is essential to finding the right executive(s) that are a good fit for the senior leadership team. That fit also positively effects retention. We accomplish this by listening to executives perceptions of senior leadership's culture and then testing those against what an evidence-based assessment that defines senior leadership culture shows. We are looking for a fairly close alignment between perceptions and evidence/data. The stakes are high for PE-backed organizations, where building leadership teams that win is mission-critical. I had the pleasure of joining a great conversation at the Chief Executive Group PE-Backed Leadership Summit, where we explored strategies that drive team success in these high-pressure environments. From talent retention to cross-generational collaboration, the discussion was packed with great questions and valuable insights. One key takeaway was the growing recognition of the need for a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) in portfolio companies. It’s more than just HR—having a CHRO ensures that talent development is strategically aligned with business growth, which is essential for long-term success. The energy and engagement at the summit were inspiring, and I’m excited to continue these important conversations.
