DPHARM: Disruptive Innovations to Modernize Clinical Research reposted this
Clinical research provides patients access to cutting-edge care, but there are still challenges in bringing trials into community health settings. I had the opportunity to speak with a group of insightful leaders in clinical care and clinical research, about the challenges we're facing in bridging the gaps, and why integrating the two systems is so worthwhile, and necessary, to help patients. #Clinicaltrials #Clinicalcare #Clinicalresearchasacareoption #CRAACO
I find each location is unique, knowing your patients, and understanding the demographic of that area is key. In addition to hiring staff that patients can relate to.
Great article mentioning the different models to address this need

2moYes, and… Equitable trial access in community settings cannot rely solely on more PIs and more sites. That’s good, but still relies on serendipity — only those patients at that clinic will have access. The magic of unlocking community settings for all patients will come with the final FDA guidance on DCT including language making clear how community HCPs can participate in trials by supporting routine care procedures without being a PI, sub-I or on the 1572. More sites in community settings + an ability for all community practices to keep supporting their patients routine care needs even while in a trial — then we can unlock equitable access through community health settings.
