From April 7 to 13, we celebrate "National Robotics Week". The Operating Room is another area where we have seen significant technological advancements in the last two decades. Robotic surgery has been democratized across many disciplines allowing surgeons to perform procedures with an unprecedented precision. Patients benefit from reduced pain during recovery, a lower risk of infection, reduced blood loss and smaller scars (and potentially shorter hospital stays). This short video provides an overview from both the surgeon's and the patient's perspective. #nationalroboticsweek #roboticsurgery #surgery #robotics https://lnkd.in/e8CZgkzs

Last week, Professor Jacques Marescaux participated in the Society of Robotic Surgery | SRS Telesurgery Consensus Congress, delivering a lecture titled "Telesurgery: Lessons from the Past and a Vision for the Future." What a source of pride it is! Among all the lectures, Operation Lindbergh was consistently mentioned as the historical achievement resulting from a European grant awarded to IRCAD in 1994 (MASTER: Minimal Access Surgery by Telecommunication and Robotics). This consensus conference, attended mainly by Americans and Chinese, confirmed the increasingly important role that long-distance remote surgery will play not only in digestive surgery but perhaps even more so in the application of thrombectomy in the event of a stroke or stent placement in the event of an infarction. #surgery #ircad #minimallyinvasivesurgery #robotics
