It was great to participate in the JPMorganChase#VetVC Summit this past week!
We spoke to veterans who are founders and funders about the importance of #nationalsecurity and how the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is working to scale critical capabilities across the United States Department of Defense, providing our warfighters with the technologies they need and helping strengthen the national security innovation base.
Follow DIU to learn about what's next at the intersection of national security and commercial technology.

#ICYMI Warrant officers are making a comeback!
To best optimize itself for Great Power Competition, the Air Force plans to, among other things, bring back warrant officers within the cyber and information technology professions.
What's the why? The service is looking to better attract and develop cutting-edge talent, specifically within information technology and cyber fields. The service plans to expand technical tracks for officers and create technical tracks for enlisted, and to also reintroduce the rank of warrant officer within the information technology and cyber fields as a way to maintain technical leadership with those skills.

Shift5 and Booz Allen Hamilton today announce their partnership:
“Transportation and defense operators are central to maintaining economic stability and defending national security; without their reliable and consistent performance, the global supply chain falters, human safety is at risk, and the nation loses advantage in strategic competition. Given the current state of geopolitics and evolution in the threat landscape, commercial and military operators must adopt a new definition of complete cybersecurity that includes observability, OT, and AI/ML. Shift5’s work with Booz Allen brings together these core components to give operators a decision advantage,” said Josh Lospinoso, CEO, Shift5.

At Dcode, we believe in the power of collaboration and the critical conversations that platforms like SXSW foster. That's why we're disappointed by SXSW’s decision to end its partnership with the US Army and United States Department of Defense.
Having Meagan Metzger, Secretary Christine Wormuth and General Rainey on stage back in March, highlighted how vital military-tech collaboration is for innovation and national security. The Army has been a key player in driving advancements in areas like #AI, #cybersecurity, and human-machine integration.
Excluding the US Army and United States Department of Defense from the conversations silences important voices and hinders progress. Let's keep these essential dialogues open. Innovation thrives on inclusion and diverse perspectives.

Top Huntsville Area Execs to Watch in 2024 | View the list: https://lnkd.in/e7_V8Nie
Huntsville, Alabama, is a growing hub for the government contracting market, as Beltway bandits continue to expand by opening satellite offices in the area and other small GovCons choose the location for their headquarters. It’s no surprise, either. The area is ripe for federal #defense, #intelligence, #cyber and IT support, considering the nearby Army base, Redstone Arsenal (which also houses a growing FBI campus).
Following recent years of similar expansion, this year alone, Parry Labs announced an $8.7 million expansion of its #Huntsville location, and Raytheon broke ground on its $115 million Huntsville expansion. These are just two of over 300 GovCons headquartered or located in the area, collectively bringing billions of federal dollars to the new #GovCon hotspot.
WashingtonExec’s inaugural list of Top Huntsville Area Execs to Watch in 2024 highlights the executives based in Huntsville working to support the federal government close to the source, while spearheading expansion initiatives, fostering government-industry relationships, providing cutting-edge IT solutions, and advancing technology, innovation and modernization to support mission critical needs.
