A couple of years ago my colleagues and I were interested to understand how the business community in Australia perceived international and professional accreditations of university programs. Our resultant survey provided surprising insights into a general lack of awareness of international accreditation bodies such as #AACSB and #EQUIS in the Australian context. Our Full article: Are accreditation signals being recognised? Business professionals’ awareness and views on accredited university business programmes has just been published in #StudiesinHigherEducation. https://lnkd.in/gAhU5X9N

#erdaglobalsummitandawards2024 #erdaexcellenceaward2024 Education Research & Development Association (ERDA) is dedicated to driving societal change through education, innovation, and compassion - an endeavor that would be impossible without the invaluable contributions of its various stakeholders. To express its gratitude, ERDA bestows the ERDA Excellence Award upon individuals, institutions and organizations in recognition of their contributions to society around the globe. This award is more than just a trophy or certificate; it is an initiative to recognize the often-overlooked contributions of individuals and organizations. For ERDA, the significance of these contributions isn’t measured by their size or immediate impact but by the commitment to making a difference, no matter how small the contribution may seem. The inspiration behind the Excellence Award comes from our visionary founder’s belief that society often fails to recognize the smaller contributions made by individuals and organizations. For him, excellence is not about achieving what others cannot, but about giving one’s best effort to any task, regardless of the outcome. He believed that recognition should not be reserved only for those at the pinnacle of success, as this overlooks the efforts of many who are working toward the betterment of society. By acknowledging even the smallest contributions, we can inspire a broader community to engage in meaningful work for the greater good.

🌍🔄🌆 Embracing Glocal: Merging Global Insights with Local Solutions In today's interconnected world, the concept of "glocal" is more relevant than ever. Glocalization combines global and local perspectives, recognizing that while global issues are significant, their most effective solutions often emerge from local contexts. 🤔What does it mean to be glocal? Being glocal means addressing global challenges by tailoring solutions to local needs, cultures, communities, and contexts. This actionable approach ensures that strategies are relevant, sustainable, just, equitable, and impactful. 📝Examples of Glocal Solutions: 1. Education: Integrating international best practices into local curricula to enhance educational outcomes while respecting local traditions and values. 2. Environmental Sustainability: Adopting global sustainability frameworks and implementing them with community-specific practices that consider local ecosystems and livelihoods. 3. Healthcare: Utilizing global medical advancements while ensuring that healthcare delivery is adapted to local healthcare systems, cultural norms, and is informed by context so care may be accessible and affordable. As we continue to navigate conversations and spaces in international education, I hope those privileged enough to attend the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Conference in New Orleans and those who have participated in NAFSA’s regional events keep the glocal perspective in mind. Let’s ensure our strategies are not only globally informed but also locally grounded. #NAFSA2024 #glocal #internationaleducation #globalsolutions #localimpact

Thank you Dr. Fanta Aw and Meredith Bell for the opportunity to share my thoughts on this important topic. My contribution to the January 2025 issue of NAFSA: Association of International Educators' Magazine with the article "Cutting the Cords: What International Education Needs to Leave Behind." revolved around: - Rethinking #Global #Citizenship and the need for a critical overhaul, as its current practice contrasts sharply with the rise of #nationalist policies often championed by leaders who themselves benefited from international programs. (check the Higher Education Policy Institute index here: https://lnkd.in/gzK8ry6R ) - Of course I couldn't help mention the need to discarding #Rankings as the sole or main #metrics of #success due to flawed methodologies and misleading practices that often distort #data, driving misguided #internationalization efforts, particularly in regions like #MENA. (check this article about the International Association of Universities #Global Survey on the Internationalization of #HigherEducation https://lnkd.in/dk-tquDn) Finally, we have the urge to embrace #DigitalTransformation as antiquated paper-based systems must give way to digital tools like AI-powered applications and cloud-based systems to meet the expectations of tech-savvy global learners and create a more inclusive experience. #InternationalEducation #HigherEd #Innovation #Growth Bahram Bekhradnia Giorgio Marinoni
📣The January issue of NAFSA International Educators Magazine is out and it focuses on what we in international educators must be willing to shed, leave behind or at minimum activately interrogate. Our seven contributors to the article, touch on macro and micro trends and our need to think beyond —whether it’s reimagining how we work, what we offer, the value of partnerships, and the value of IE. 2025 is shaping up to be quite the year and it’s timely to consider what we need to leave behind to be proactive about what lies ahead. Let us dare to cut the cords holding us back, to make space for new and different thinking. Thank you Markus Badde Cesar Wazen Korka Sall, PhD Rachel Rui Sumie Song, Ph.D. Haviva Parnes Dave Anguish for your very insightful perspectives. #NAFSA #HigherEd #InternationalEd #FutureForward #BigQuestions #CuttingCords

"In recruitment and student advising, a single-minded focus on growth can lead to short-term gains, but in the medium and long term, spikes in enrollment can strain resources across an institution. What good is it to yield a huge class of students who will be unsatisfied with their experiences?" Thanks to NAFSA: Association of International Educators for inviting me to share my thoughts about trends in international education and how we can adjust to new realities in the field. Special thanks to Joann Ng Hartmann and David Di Maria, Ed.D.

🌐 Dr. Fanta Aw, CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, gave an inspiring keynote speech to close out PRME Time at the #PRMEGlobalForum! Some highlights: “Every single one of the SDGs has a component of diversity, equity, and inclusion.” “Our students are central to figuring out what avenues we need to prioritize. Our ability to place students at the center will be incredibly important to how we move the agenda forward.” "PRME and NAFSA have overlapping goals in promoting ethical, responsible, and globally-minded education. By advocating for responsible educational policies and incentives and developing online learning platforms, we can set global standards for responsible business and management education at a global reach."
