For facility owners, taking an active role in specifying certified labor for floor covering installation comes with big incentives that include better protecting patients from HAIs and better protecting themselves and their facilities from the financial risks associated with shoddy installation that leads to rework and repairs. Repairing failed flooring can cost up to ten times more than the original installation when factoring in materials, labor, and facility disruption, not to mention the risks to occupant health and safety. #facman #commercialflooring https://lnkd.in/eWCG_2Ce

The Healthcare Facilities Minute – Episode 7 Stairwell Signage Compliance In this video I cover what you need to know from NFPA 101, 2012 for stairwell signage compliance. At the time of this video publication, The Joint Commission (TJC) inspects to the 2012 Life Safety Code NFPA 101. Chapter 7 – Means of Egress, 7.2.2.5.4 covers stairwell signage requirements. Additional requirements for illumination are covered in 7.10.8.1 and 7.10.8.2. This requirement applies to new stairwells of 3 or more stories, or existing stairwells of 5 or more stories. International Building Code (IBC) 2015, Chapter 10, Means of Egress, 1013.4 outlines the raised character and braille requirements for exit signs. Credit to Kimberly Paarlberg for the Ace of Base reference/idea as mentioned in her article titled “Stairway signage demystified,” published in the Building Safety Journal, Oct’17. #healthcarefacilities #facilitiesmanagement #lifesafety #regulatorycompliance #ASHE #JointCommission #stairwells #NFPA101

Q: Do I need to bother with training my staff if they are working in areas with racking? A: Yes! If you equip your team with the knowledge and skills they need to identify problems with racking, it will provide numerous benefits for your business: 1. It will ensure you meet your health and safety requirements. 2. It can keep the costs downs by reducing the number of repairs your equipment needs. 3. It can should mean your racking meets its expected lifespan which will deliver maximum ROI. 4. Most importantly of all, it will help to keep everyone safe. If your staff know how to spot damage they can immediately report it. That means you can get it fixed before it turns into a serious problem and your racking will work as intended. Did you know cleaning with an automated scrubber is up to 64% faster than a mop and bucket? With labor making up 75-85% of most janitorial budgets, it’s a no-brainer to switch to a data-driven cleaning fleet for higher productivity and happier customers. Take the CS5, for example—it can save around 300 hours of labor and nearly $4,500 in labor costs each year! 💰✨ #DropTheMop #MechanizedCleaning #AutomatedScrubbers

These factors can gradually erode their effectiveness, putting you at risk for slip and fall accidents. That's why a proactive approach to floor maintenance is crucial. Think of it like your car: wouldn't you trust a mechanic to regularly check and maintain it to ensure smooth and safe driving? Your floors deserve the same level of care!
