Hence, when designing a spray distributor it is prudent to have a spray coverage ratio (theoretical spray coverage divided by column area) much greater than 1.0. For cleaning of a vane (chevron) mist eliminator the coverage ratio should be between 1.5 to 2. For a vacuum column wash bed the coverage ratio should be between 2 to 3. Spray angle can be 60, 90 or 120 degrees. Nozzles with 60 degrees angles are the "best" but with the highest cost whilst nozzles with 120 degrees angles are the "worst" but with the lowest cost. A good compromise is to use nozzles with 90 degree angles.
